C300: Anything new about C cams at NAB?

Hello

i wonder if you seen or heard at NAB anything new about any of the C cams? anyone spoke to canon?

Regards

Nope. It's been said for a few weeks, no new Cx00's at NAB, but no one seems to believe it. I've been here all week. Believe it. The new 17-120 cine lens is nice, but no new cine cams from Canon.

Canon might come up with some post-NAB surprises, who knows, Michael Sutton the Canon guy said himself there's a new firmware for 5D3 coming, so it's likely that something else could be annouced at the same time.

The only thing stopping them releasing another C100 type camera is the fact they only brought out the C100 in Summer 2012.
They probably want to shift as much stock as they can before announcing another.
I wouldn't say they would have announced this dual pixel upgrade so close to a new Camera (hope I am so wrong)

The C100 in the 5k-6k is where the real sales are for them.
They have to answer the other companies with a 4k camera soon.

i did not expect any new C cams , but i was hoping for some upgrades announcements to existing C300 ... firmware or hardware with maybe 10bit out or else....

Bummer...I was hoping for a sneak peak to what they have been cook'n up behind the scenes. Just seems a bit crazy every one is releasing amazing new cameras (like being able to upgrade my Scarlet soon)...but Canon is still sport'n the 4.2.0 game. Don't get me wrong...I am so so happy with my C100...I love it but I would also love to see them take just one more baby step towards the competition.

What's Canon "expanding" on C series? it can't be just price drop, dual-pixel AF or C500 new RAW software.

Canon appear to be doing what Apple do by shunning mega trade shows and announcing updates at their own events. Didn't they do that with the existing Cinema line? Whatever they're playing at, they've certainly got us owners dreaming big!!

I liked what Sony announced at NAB for the F5 - they've made it possible to buy a hardware and firmware upgrade so that F5 owners can have the same imager and specs as the F55. I must admit I've been daydreaming of having the C500 innards in my C100! :)

Come November, it will be 3 years from the launch of the C300.....3 years has historically been the cycle for Canon on video cameras......I don't know anything, I'm just saying....

Words cannot express how happy I was at last year's NAB to not see a new Canon C-camera! No new C-camera at this year's NAB? Fantastic! It's great to actually make a return on investment on Cine gear! Our Panasonic AF100's had a very brief window of opportunity. Glad we didn't buy Sony F3's. Thank you Canon for rational product cycles.

I was just typing a similar response. I know that I was pretty perturbed when I waited until late February last year to received my BMCC (ordered the day it was announced) only to hear that they had a new 4K model with a 35mm sensor size to replace it already (barely 2 months after they started realistically shipping). What made it worse is we had to drink the BMD kool aid on how it was impossible to bring a cinema camera to market with a 35mm sensor and good dynamic range in that price range. Then they dropped the BMCC by $1000 and replaced it with the very camera they had been saying would be too expensive.

nope. I am glad I sold it when I did (only lost about $200 because the demand was high) and switched to the c100. And I am very happy that it is not being phased out already. I have only owned it for about 11 months so I am happy as can be that it is still in the main Canon rotation. Rational product cycle is right. This isn't an ipod after all! :)

There had been talk of a major firmware upgrade for the 1DC this NAB.

Another "Thank you Canon!" from me. I have milked the HVX for years before getting a C100, I will try to do the same with the C100. On the other hand, I'm not afraid of what' next on the pipeline. I've played the game long enough to know, that I'm more limited by a lack of time, talent, imagination, lighting, sunlight, location, client budget and so on, than by any camera parameters that may or may not be added to future models.
Not saying, I wouldn't like to have an Alexa at my disposal

I don't know if I'd call having possibly the biggest display area at NAB "shunning mega trade shows". It was insane how much stuff they had and how much real estate they took up. There were multiples of almost everything they make, or have announced including the 17-120, there. I even played with an 800mm on a 1DX.

Listen to yourselves. You're all satisfied with your current Canons and don't want another camera.
And for those looking for a new one, Canon's competitors have a cheaper and/or better specced model on all possible application fields, from social to broadcast, from the 5D3 to the C500.

That's Canon issue IMO, they won't sell anything again until they release new models.

That's what happens for playing too conservatively (planned obsolescence) when releasing cameras. Even Sony has left that old philosophy behind and is firing with all cylinders, 10-12 bit, 60-240p, 2-4k, mpeg-raw, 12-14 stops, etc etc.

Giving what's currently on offer, price for price, who's going to buy Canon 8 bit cams now? For the last 2 years people all talked and bought Canon. Now it's all about a7s, GH4, FS700+7Q, F5/55, Cion, Amira, etc etc.

BTW, it all looks like old the XL-line story again; seems Canon doesn't learn from its own mistakes.
