C100: Anyone using the Sigma 35 1.4 ART series lens on C100?

Used to shoot with mostly primes (21 / 50 / 100) on my 5dmk3 and now use an 11-16 + 24-70 mk2. Considering selling my 24-70 and getting a 35. Would love to see some screenshots if anyone is using it on their c100 :)

You cant go wrong with the 35mm ART lens. Reviews are very glowing and it seems like a big winner. I have the 50mm ART on pre order and cant wait to get it. Sigma is really stepping up with the ART line. I would buy the 35mm but the Rokinon 35mm is also a very good lens and I just dont have a reason to sell it for the Sigma. At least for now. :-D

It is an amazing lens and razor sharp.

When we moved to the C100 we also upgraded all our lenses, hired a load for evaluation purposes and found the Canon 35mm just wasnt as sharp as all their other MK2 lenses such as the 70-200 f2.8 IS MK2 and the 16-35MK2. But the sharpness of the Sigma matched them perfectly. The Canon version is over 16 years old now and is well overdue a MK2 upgrade. The video below features a lot of the Sigma lens

DANNY! Great film! It's Randy (colourcraft) :)

Also, for the cost of a single canon we could buy 2 sigmas for myself and Julie. Like I said, we tried it against the other lenses we had and side by side to the Canon and the canon just showed its age. Build quality is also better than our previous sigmas, focus is nice and smooth for video.

Only downside for the C100 is autofocus IF you use it. If you have it open to 1.4 then autofocus doesn't work but is fine at all other apertures. We don't use it on auto but may do if we get the DP upgrade but can't see us using it much at 1.4.

Curiously. Even thought the camera recognises it as a non canon lens the peripheral illumination correction still does its thing and appears to do it right.

Also, no problems with hot swapping. No shorts yet and this is 6 months on 2 cameras.

The only downside we faced was servicing. We live near a Canon service centre and have had to use it a few times for the 5DMK2 and other bits and its so handy to pop in on a Monday after a shoot and pickup on a Thursday. This was the only thing we would find harder as it means sending it off to Sigma. They do come with a 3 year warranty here in the UK, its just turnaround would be slower. But at that price we could justify buying 2 lenses and renting one should we ever have to send it off (or making do with the others we have).

The Sigma is quite a bit sharper than the Canon wide open. Also, the Canon has some CA wide open. But...
The Sigma has more vignetting wide open and the C100 can compensate for vignetting on the Canon 35L while shooting. It does appear the somebody has tested the Sigma 35 and shown that there is compensation.
The Canon has a focus throw of 145 degrees. The Sigma has a focus throw of 97 degrees.

could u show a video clip of its working? also does it work just with opened iris, or at any iris point?

regards
