I just picked up a Panny PCD20, as it seemed the best solution for what I am doing: a running, gunning doc, shooting max five 8Gb cards per day (and hopefully not more, because I only have 5). So, we thought it would be nice to pop all 5 in the Drive, get her goin', and walk away.
I have opened the box and looked at it, but haven't given it a whirl yet. Any advice from the sages? I will be offloading cards to a mirror RAIDed 320Gb external through a PC laptop (Dell, decent specs). I won't be editing; the hard drives will go to someone else.
I have shot with the HVX a fair bit, but that's about it. I've always had an AC or someone to deal with the footage, so I'm very new to the P2 workflow, and this gig is gonna make me learn that flow, dangit. At least up to the "ship the hard drives to the editor" part.
Anyone feel like schooling me on the flow? P2-->PCD20-->Laptop-->RAID
I don't have any software (like the ubiquitous "P2 Genie" I've read about around here). Should I get it?
