The test videos I put up on Vimeo are shot using 50mm 1.2L II, 85 1.2L II and 16-35mm 2.8L II.
There's not a lot up yet, but there will be more.
This is just a shot I improvised on the spot by putting an IGUS rail on a table at a café to show some friends, and then just placed the camera on it to demonstrate. I believe it's 1.2
This is my first real test of the camera. It's not properly white balanced or graded or anything.
I have used it.
It's very nice, huge glass front and rear, and it looks like a thermos mounted to the camera it's so big. But if you need it for the light gathering then it will be money well spent. Focus is critical when wide open.
Not my experience just what I've read online from other users but the 50mm1.2L is not very sharp wide open so you might as well get the 1.4...
Dig around first before you spend THAT MUCH more for a small advantage that turns out to be not so usable after all.
Now build quality, I imagine, is gonna be a lot better, I believe there's better weatherproofing on the L lenses, so if that's a major consideration, then I suppose it's worth it.
I own the 50mm 1.2L and will agree that the 50mm 1.4 is arguably the "sweet spot" in Canon 50mm lenses. However regarding comments that the 1.2 is "soft" wide open - well it is. But, in low light, at 1.4 you wouldn't even have a usable image.
The images from the Canon 50mm 1.2L and 85mm 1.2L are in a class by themselves. Soft or ortherwise.
