Does anyone know where to buy this type of material raw so we can make our own? I would take it to a seamstress. Every time I configure my rig it is a slightly different shape so buying the off the shelf Portabrace is a no-go. It doesn't make sense to me, how do you know if you'll have the handle on/off, shotgun, EVF, long lens, etc? If I could just get two yards of the material I could design a custom perfect cover.
Otherwise, although it looks un-professional, a heavy duty trash can liner will give me the ports I need.
Shazam! This is what I was looking for, thanks Lemur. I will build my own and use an iron plus my wife may do some stitching. I don't see how you buy one off-the-shelf. Here's what the response from Quest Outfitters wrote:
HI Ned,
I would most recommend either the heat sealable fabrics which can be either stitched or heat sealed together with a household iron or if you need something a little more supple then the heavy coated oxford which has 3 times the polyurethane coating than a typical coated fabric (the link to our website listing is below). If you would like to see samples just let us know your mailing adress.
