Anyone splitting the composite for two monitors? or...?

I have a cheapo on-camera LCD with no pass-thru, and I want to split the composite video to send to the director's monitor. Anyone splitting the signal? Will it work with a passive splitter, or does it need a dist amp of some sorts?

OR, will the HDMI and composite output a signal simultaneously? (doubt it, but have no way to test)
