Anyone Interested In Review of a FW Cable For the 170 That Doesn't Carry Power

I've been working with a cable manufacturer to produce a 15 foot FW cable that does not carry power.

In this case, it is a six pin to 9 pin conversion FW conversion cable that works with the 170 and Macs with FW800 only connections.

The real appeal is that no power is carried, so issues of blow ports in cams and computers is eliminated.

I'd be testing it with mounting cam with Macs, Scopebox, OnLocation, and HD Monitor and Veescope if I can get copies.

Any interest in my impressions in a short review?

Question is -- the power problem seems to come from trying to plug a cable into a port backwards. So a data line in the cable contacts against the power pin in the socket, and that leads to stuff blowing up. Are you sure that they can eliminate that risk?

That is user error.

The plug can only go in one way comfortably with six pin and 9 pin FW cables.

I can only address that portion.

Don't drink and plug in FW cables backward. Bold red letters.

Okay, going to start gathering info and pricing.
