Anyone here use ClipWrap 2?

Ive heard people speak highly of it but im not sure i still understand exactly what it does. i use an hmc-150. why would i use this instead of using FCP's log and transfer?

The one big issue I have with log & transfer is shooting several frame rates on the same card. I've found you can't xfer, say, a 60p shot with a lot of 24p. Crashes, and the capture settings would be off anyway. So I either have to be extra careful to segregate any slowmo shots, either by slating or taking notes on set... or use a separate card for 60p.

(Also, L&T crashes when transcoding 60p footage if I have Perian installed - but Perian allows me to view FLVs in QT player. Luckily, Perian has an "off and on" install setup in System Prefs, but it's another thing to remember...)

I like the DSLR way of just dragging shots to MPEG streamclip or setting up batch folders in MPS or 5DtoRGB - or setting a folder structure up before I transcode. No worries about card structure.

AND... I dislike having to reset my capture scratch for every project. I always want my raw footage in the project folder, not on a scratch disc, organized by shoot date, frame rate, whatever. This also lets me place scratch discs outside of my nightly backup process, which keeps my backups from filling up quite as fast.

These are minor quibbles, I admit. But I dislike inelegant workflow processes!

Ive tried it. The only issue I have is its really keeping the MTS format (avchd) and wrapping it in a container so that your editor can edit it natively (without transcoding).

This a great if you are doing simple short editing but complex projects will quickly slow down your computer and playback is often choppy.

I still think the best thing to do is transcode to something your NLE will cut though like butter (like prores for FCP7).
