ALL: Anyone have a message "Card Door open" ?

Deer Film,

For all the time you spent making that video I would've had the camera back and swapped over by now.

It's obviously got a faulty switch sensor.

Cheers

Vaughan

That is a bad looking problem. You can duplicate this using a different card? Does the second slot behave the same also?

Only suggestion that I can come up with is quite a long shot. From my experience in owning 3 DSLR cameras over the years, I've seen some bizarre problems actually solved by reinitializing the camera's setup. So if you have not already tried it, I would suggest reinitializing the camera, following the instructions on page 29 of the volume 1 printed manual.

I've actually seen reinitializing bring non-functioning DSLR cameras back to life. I don't have any experience as to whether this can help with problems on camcorders, but I figure that it would certainly be worth it for you to give this a try.

Both types of devices can be affected by electromagnetic fields. So they both have the potential of contents of memory becoming scrambled.

Hi, yes I can duplicate it with different cards. Also, even if there is no card, it should not have the card door open message.
I will contact my rep today before I take your suggestion. And thank you for the comments. I hope it works.

The door open message has nothing to do with memory cards. It is the sensor associated with the latching door.
I would try opening and closing the door a million times, but I am sure you have done that. And I would of wiggled the door while it was closed, but I am sure you have done that, too.
I suggest documenting the problem on video (like lampofilm's utube video) and then send it off for repair with the video as proof, just in case it doesn't act-up at the repair shop.

Hi, yes that is what I will do. I will need to send it back to the company.
Just a little gun-shy that I will get another one bad. Is it better to wait a few months, or is this just a 1 in a million type of error?

LanceOregon, the camera does not allow me to go into the menu with the "card door open".
Bummer!
So I will send it back.
(cry) I'm going to miss it.

I feel bad for you i had to return my hmc 150 when i bought it 2009 there was noise comin from the auto focus, so when it try to focus it make like a loud rubbing plastic sound.
When i got a new replacement hmc 150 it was the strongest camera i ever had it drop 6 time 2 time from top of the car and i put it back together with glue it it work fine. Still working now so panasonic do make a good camera that can take falls.
