Anyone ever usethe 50mm 1.8 e mount?

I would rather buy canon fd 50mm 1.4 or 1.2L than that lens, but its my opinion. There are better lenses for 300$.

i have this one e-mount 50 f1.8 with FS100, what i really like is its image stable, and working fine,
i used to use canon 50f1.4, but, i got to use monopod to keep image stable,
but this e mount, you can use it by hand without monopod. stable is ok

I don't think so. The lens has image stabilization, native e-mount, it can AF. Nice bokeh. Fast enough (F1.8). I don't think there are better lenses at that price.

I'm after one of these as it seems excellent for the price; fast, oss and one touch AF/AI

There seems to be almost no stock in the UK at the moment due to huge demand.
I rang the huge Sony Centre, Westfield, London yesterday "The widest range of Sony products available in the UK, the widest range of alpha D-SLR cameras and lenses"
- they're expecting this lens in on '8th May'

ive not read any good press on the manual focus feel of this lens..

I read that it was the same spongy feel as the kit lens.

I have only read excellent reviews regarding its optical quality.

In fact the Sony E Mount lenses have been given good to very good ratings. I have purchased the 16mm pancake for use on the steadicam and the 30mm macro but have yet to receive them as they are back ordered too. Seems that E Mount lenses are popular all of a sudden.

The High Performance Standard Zoom might be nice later this year.

Well, I do have a Canon FD 50 F1.4, and it's great - alas no stabilization so practial with some good support only. I wish the shorter one of the 2 new SEL lenses (SEL30M35) had OIS - I'd buy that without any hesitation. But another fast 50mm, just because my Canon FD lacks OIS? I don''t think so...

I currently have a full set of nice Nikons (including the 50mm) but the ois on the kit lens is sooo nice I'm thinking it might be good to have a fast fifty with ois too.
