Anyone else find card operations on the camera to be slow?

It seems to me in comparison with my previous cameras that the formatting cards and copy data functions on the af-100 seem be extremely slow. I am using class 6 cards so I don't thnk the speed of the cards is the issue? Am I the only one experiencing this?

I noticed formatting my 16gb cards take a lot longer than my 8gb, and that the card copy function takes a while (usually with the bar on 95%, lol)... It too some getting use to coming from the HVX, but no biggie. I dont need to format durring my shooting day as I can have a small case of SD cards last ALL day, and copying only happens at the end of some shoots when I need to hand off the footage on the spot. With the HPX, I was always having to format cards to keep going, etc, so speed was an issue with cards and that camera, but with the AF100, it is kinda a whatever thing as long as your cards are fast enough for VFR. It is what it is.

I only use class 10 panny gold cards, btw; so it is not a card speed issue.

Yeah, ok so you're seeing what I'm seeing. Formatting cards seems to take about 5x as long as on my ex1, so not sure what is being done in this camera that takes so long. At least I know it's not just me though.

Was working an event job last night and formatting the cards took like 20 seconds each one. I'll have to format each one before the job and not during as that's a long time to format.

Question for you guys with slow formats. Are you using panasonic gold cards? That's what i have and I too have the slow formats. Last week I was on a shoot where i used another Af100 users cards, he had the sandisk extremes and they formatted in about 5 seconds! What's going on here? All cards were 16GB

I have all Panasonic Gold Cards (3x8gb and 1x16gb) that I use for paid work as well as a 16gb PNY card I use for playing around and as a backup (all my cards are class 10). I find that the panny 16gb card is faster than the PNY card when formatting, but marginally, and that is based purely on observation (I have not timed it or anything)... so yea, as I think we have all concluded, they are all slow formatting, but I do find my smaller cards do format a lot faster if formatting time matters to you. But yea, all cards format slow in this camera. Thankfully, SDHC cards are so cheap (probably the cheapest recording media I have ever used, even when buying the most expensive panasonic gold cards) that you can easily have enough to not have to worry durring a shoot about taking time to offload and reformat a card to shoot on it again like we did with P2.

SD card format times are glacial compared to P2 cards in virtually any p2 camera. I was initially taken aback by the slow SD format times even with class 10 cards, coming from the P2 world.
