Anybody selling their Sony F35?

F900 "colour" doesn't mean F900 look. It's still a wide colour space, just not S-Gamut.

If you don't use the full S-Gamut there's definitely an argument for using it. I believe in some of their literature Sony actually refer to the F900 as "Alexa" colours, although they probably mean an Alexa in 709 mode.

Alexa colors? Hehehe. So this was first try before 709A. :Drogar-BigGrin(DBG)

When going from a larger color space to a narrower color space, LUTs can sometimes map values outside of the final color space since there is not specification for certain values in, say, rec709. This can result in some funky behavior. This is why some expert colorists recommend not using LUTs, but instead, transforms.

ACES is giving people access to these types of transforms, but converting color spaces, as MacGregor has previously stated, can required advanced skills and tools. Shooting in a narrower color space that more closely matches your final deliverable can minimize your reliance on LUTs, while allowing you a greater degree of certainty about what your colors are doing.

Obviously, many people still shoot s-gamut and without fancy tools, still get a great result. No fast rules here, but that is one of the reasons why some people may choose to shoot narrower color space.

With the F65 sony offer several flavours of S-Log, including two S-Log 3 gamuts. The .cine gamut they recommend not because it's technically better (it's not) but because it's easier to work with
