I see tons and tons of old russian lenses on ebay. I can't find a whole lot of info on most of them. Anybody here know anything about them?

What do you need to know? They're often well built lenses. A search on here will tell you some people use them and like the unique characteristics. Not sure what else is to be said.

99.5% of them made from metal, so they will be not light as plastic ones ... some of them may add yellowish color (depend on anti reflective coating characteristics)

Well what I was looking for was more information about the lesser-known ones. I'm not talking about the LOMO anamorphics or anything like that. I mean I found some called Vega and some others that ive not heard of.

I was also wondering about vignetting, the type of mounts used, etc. Searching on here found nothing, that's why I asked.

Anyway, I bought a cheap Vega and I'll see what happens.

A few days in direct sunlight is supposed to fix that yellowish tinge. It worked on my 35mm FD (the radioactive one). Although some of my photographer friends say they love the yellow tinge and that I shouldn't have done that...

I have a Helios 42M-5 MC which I love the look of. It's being cleaned at the moment.

Just received the Mir 24 M which I have not had time to test.

But I love the way they give a certain "punch" to colors.

I bought the adapter as a one off from a guy in Belorus. It is also built like a tank and looks deeper than the ones that I see on eBay (it was also more expensive).

Either way, very happy with the purchases.
