7D Any way to see focal length electronically in camera?

I have the canon 17-55mm EF-S lens and it's hard to pinpoint a focal length, as only 17, 20, 28, 35, an 55 are labeled. But when I look at the detail tab of a picture on my computer, it shows the focal length, along with the f-stop, ISO, all of which can be measured in camera. Is there a setting buried somewhere in the menus that will show me the focal length?

No. I wish there was. It would help with rack focusing. I use it all the time on my HMC cameras but have to manager without on the DSLR (checking focus on the LCD)

For EF and EFs lenses, I've made my own lens markings by taking stills and checking the metadata on the jpeg

I was thinking of doing the same thing. Since the barrel has rubber grooves, I was able to pin point 50mm, but having a marking would makes it easier/faster to hit the spot. What did you use to make the markings?
