Hi all,

I know its hard to find the voigtlander 25mm 0.95 but photovillage seems to have stock although my address isnt supported because Im in South Africa :( I have a few people here interested in this lens - is it even possible photovillage have stock?

Please let me know of any options.

Thank you.

ebay prices are the sickest (orly?). Any professional retailer should be able to backorder one for you. Try a smaller shop.
costs 800 euro in sweden

There's one on this site for say for 1250 I believe. The lens is in such demand that it's gone up since we bought it. We paid 900 for it.... It's an awesome lens though, totally worth it. AMAZING.

in most cases a 20mm 1.7 is just as good.

No, no, no. Totally different beasts.

Absolutely different beasts....could not agree more! (dont like the plastic caps though)

I picked up on for around 650 euros from a german supplier on ebay...only had two available...most are around 850-900

Totally not the same animal. It's 4 stops more light with the Voigtlander and the build quality of the Voigtlander is off the charts... Solid metal with a real focus ring and better mechanics..... The 20mm is decent in what it does, but it's not the WOW factor of the Voigtlander.

It's 1.5 stop faster actually. Still, that's a real fast lens.

The pancake is more practical and stealthy, but when you need the speed the voigtlander is a godsend. If you can afford it, buy both.

Consta just did a shipment and they did not sell out immediately. We may be getting to the point were they will be more easily found.

I thought so too until I got my hands on Nokton 25mm 0.95. Pancake 20 1.7 is good and small but manual focusing during shooting video is a nightmare.
Secondly , the bokeh and color rendition is much better in Nokton... IMHO the nokton is worth the price.

is the Voight a good "only lens"? From everything I've heard it is the best GH2 lens, but would I loose anything swapping out my 14-140 for it?

Yes... the 14-140 is a good all purpose lens and if it were faster it'd be really awesome. Two totally different animals....

would I miss the 14-140 if I sold it to buy the Voight instead? (primarily focused on narrative filmmaking)

I'm in the same boat. The 14-140 is a good lens for outdoor still/video. Vacation, family photo, etc... I don't know.....
