Do you mean it will not output any video at all from the IFbox?
That’s right. No audio board no picture. According to Yachacha who has gutted these things numerous times.

Ok. I respect yachacha and his knowledge and hard work he put in F35 and we go a long way back as F35 owners. I think we 2 are the last 2 who bought it in the first wave here many years ago. But there must be a mistake. I have got video before from IF box with the sound board out of IF box. Because of lose screw in XLR it got damaged and I opened box and end up taking the sound board out. Video worked normally. Covered XLR holes and shot few jobs like this. Now I have already another IF box. But it worked without audio board.
Well damn Yachacha! Been misleading this forum for YEARS!!! Hahaha. I don't know for sure. Didn't try it myself, and honestly I don't have the time to test it. But I would love for someone else to go for this and confirm.
I did shoot something today. After some ProRes vs DPX tests I posted like a year and a half ago, I got asked a lot of questions about sharpness... so today I did another quick crappy test that should clear it all out.
Will post on a different thread.
Don't know if these are any help--found them on an old hard drive. The first few are from Cinegear 2005, I would think around the official unveiling of the Genesis. Last one is from the first movie I worked on with it in early 2006.
So I bought some SRW1/SRPC1 parts for my working SRW... Got the boards so i can speed ramp 1-60fps 4:4:4 RGB now which is awesome. The units were old SRWs from Panavision... i scraped the parts i knew i could use down the line should something go wrong... interested in seeing if any of you knew how i could restore the Panavision logo on the face? They etched it out of the metal, that is not white paint lol

There are 3 circuit boards inside an IF Box. SJX is confused by my statement because I call the sound board the big board inside the IF box and he is referring to the one with the XLR connectors on it. He is correct, you can use the camera without the XLR connector. HOWEVER I refer to the big circuit board inside the IF box as the sound board because it's ONLY purpose is to process the audio from the XLR connectors and add it to the SDI line.
The 3rd circuit board is very tiny and right behind the dock connector. It already has the 2 Mini BNC lines coming out of it and one would hope it could be used by itself to get 12-bit signal without the audio. There is some sort of digital handshake with the big board inside the IF box which tells the F35 there is a IF Box Connected.
It's my own fault because I don't really care to take the time to show photos of everything I discover. Viddo went through all this a long time ago also. I would highly suggest you read every single post he ever made, he is a far better engineer and was the one who put the most work into how the signals of the IF Box work.
