Any thoughts on this Lens w/GH1?

Hey guys,

I'm just starting to look into getting some cheap c-mount lenses and I couldn't resist this lens that I sniped on ebay for 32 bucks (this listing is much higher):

Any idea if this will work with one of the cmount adapters? Is there much variance between these adapters - they all look very bare bones, so I figure they are all about the same?

Perhaps we need to create a FAQ thread for cmount lenses so we're not all recreating the wheel when experimenting with them...

If this lens won't work I guess I'll have a nice vintage paperweight on my desk... :)

It'll probably be a paperweight. Some c-mount lenses vignette pretty badly on the GH1 (pretty much most of them under about 35mm, with a few exceptions, and I think all the zooms vignette).

But if you experience otherwise, please tell us.

Thanks Barry - What if I zoom past 35mm? Do you think the vignette will still be there?
 
I haven't bothered with any c-mount zooms on the GH1, but from what I've read, zooms usually have a fairly constant circle of illumination. So I wouldn't expect it to get better, but hey, you might be surprised.

Plus, you can use it in stills mode, if you put on the Extended Optical Zoom feature.
 
Just so you know, I bought that exact same lens from the same seller. That is the lens that I sent back at a 50% loss in cost because it didn't work at all with the gh-1. i could not achieve any focus at any focal length. Hope you didn't buy it. I'll pm you to check this post.
 
Yeah, I did pick it up, luckily for not too much $$ -- oh well. Thanks for the heads up. It is a nice looking paperweight (I haven't tried it yet because I don't have an adapter).

I wonder why it won't focus at all?
