Any sense to buy the WD-H72 if you have a Brevis?

Hello to all

I was wondering that if it does make sense to buy a WD-H72 wide lens if you have a Brevis35mm adapter.

I need to shoot scenaries for a documentary

Is it anyway better to go for a Nikon or Canon SLR wide angle lens and keep the film look of the Brevis diffuser?

Thanks in advance! :undecided

Personally I wouldnt use a 35mm adapter for a doco.

And. Makes perfect sense to get the wide angle if you have .... its a wide angle lense thats going to operate without any light loss and very high res.

I agree. I was documenting the deaf in Honduras and I could not imagine having to worry about composition AND pulling focus in an unfamiliar, uncontrollable surrounding.

35mm adapters look great, but they are not the end all solution to capturing great footage. In a documentary, content is seemingly more important than the cinematic look.

hello.

i had a WD 72 and personally i think the effect is too small to justify the weight and size. it is also a screw mount which make it unconvinient to attach and detatch... i went for century optics instead. more wide angle effect and easier to mount

I would echo what Noel said about light loss and resolution. I have noticed that even with high quality wide lenses attached to my Brevis, there's a noticeable drop in sharpness. If you're using a wide lens, then you're probably perfectly happy with infinite focus so why not go with the highest resolution look you can get?

In other words, if you can afford it, I'd buy a WD-H72. I used a Century Optics wide angle adapter on my XL1 years ago and I thought it was garbage, but maybe with the A1 it's different.

Which lens model?

I have it and for that price $399 which is also a zoom through, I don't think any other wide angle can beat it. The Century at that price is not a zoom through only the higher end ones are. And the Century lens doesn't come with the sun hood like the Canon. Only down side is that there is no filter thread on the front of the Canon and is heavy.

I agree with DavidChia, you can't beat it for price. It is not all that wide and is heavy, but worth the price (including lense shade). I am not a fan of shooting with it, a shotgun mounted and vid-led on the hotshoe for run and gun (that is heavy), so I went out and purchased a DV-multi rig to help ease the weight when shooting handheld.
