Any reason not to transcode to DVCPROHD, other than larger file sizes?

Other than the 5x larger files sizes....any other reasons why it would be disadvantageous to transcode the HMC150 files to DVCPROHD ?

Quality loss , both from compression and loss of pixels

DVCProHD is lossy

DVCPro isn't full raster and you permanently lose horizontal resolution; e.g 1280x720 becomes 920x720 with non square pixels

the other consideration is that you'll need P2 viewing software to watch individual clips outside of your NLE.
i find this a bit inconvenient at times.
otherwise, if your final video is 720p or smaller, the mainconcept P2 transcoder is very fast with pretty small file sizes.....AND integrates perfectly with other editors and systems already setup to handle a dvcprohd workflow (and no PC-to-mac issues either!).
mostly i haven't noticed any appreciable loss in detail.

It also takes time. Time is valuable, and if your machine can edit without wasting that much then you should do so.

If going to dvd I use dvcproHD. If outputting to HD or doing any FX/CC etc i sue Avid DNxHD codec.
