Any Postproduction suggestions?

I am really wandering how people do there whole post with their HVX Material, for example in AE.

I can imagine that you can do a lot of more stoff in CC in Final Cut for example, that there is ni need to do much in a Post-program.

But as a Pal owner and a PC user, iam really curious to know what to you guys is the fastest-and more important- most quality saving method to you is.

I am using the trial of Edius righ now and really happy with it, think i will make the step to get Broadcast and maybe an NX Card, also if i dont know if its really worth it.

Dont get me wrong, i like Edius, but im not so sure if its enough for cc and other post stuff.
I am quite happy with AE but i dont like to convert the files and lose any quality.
I tried with the Cineform trial, and i think its not bad, but still too much work around and to my feeling too much quality loss.

So guys, specially (not only!) Pal users, let me know how you do your Post-pipeline with your HVX baby!

p.s.would be interesting if there is someone out there using edius broadcast/NX Card, and After Effects..!!:Drogar-Evil(DBG):

Sorry for the long post, hope someone will read and reply!

Wow, this is a bummer..

ok, maybe my post was a little long, but 0 workflow replies are really low, would be great to here from some folks how they do the post-works!

Thanks!!

When working with DVCPRO-HD material, the ONLY time I go out of FCP is if I need some of the special features of Studio Artist for lightneing up, coloring FX, etc. But that's for picture manipulation nothing else but SA will do. 99% of my DVCPRO-HD post work is right there in FCP!

Thanks for that ben,

i am sure that fcp is fine for all kinds of cc, unfortunatly i am on pc base, and the best way i see is edius.
But its on the other hand bad in cc skills, maybe they will invent some effects in the upcoming update, but i fear that i wount be able to do, also a simple cc workflow, without AE.

I am curious to hear about more workarounds, maybe also from Pal brothers..!

CineForm. Aspect HD. You can then use whatever NLE and post workflow you like.
I bought Raylight but personally I prefer Cineform.

hm,
I´m in the same situation right now...
been using Edius trial so far, with the 1080p25 setting and canopus HD avi codec...
posted a question on this in the canopus section, unfortunately got no answers yet...
really dislike the edius GUI, just played around with it so far though, still need more practice...
either going the PP2.0 w/Raylight route or converting everything to tiff stills in Edius and cc and finish in PP (only doing a 30sec, so I guess this should be doable...)
If anyone could post the correct settings for 1080p in Edius, I´d really appreciate, so far I would open a 1080/50i project, cause I guess the HVXs 1080p25 is saved as 50i, right?
ansonsten viel Glueck, hvx_germanboy, hoffe wir finden bald eine zufriedenstellende Loesung...

Hey Spartacus,

nice 2 hear from you again,
i am not sure if there are just few HVX Pal Users thinking about this Problem, or if its maybe due to the fact that we are using PC.(which seems to make it even harder, also if fcp users dont have to laugh to much until now, cause of pal implementation!)

I really want to stick on Edius, cause i am not willing to convert ALL my footage (in my project right now i got 20 hours of documentary for approxematly 90 minutes in final, theres no way i wanna lose my p2 timesafe in converting those 20 hours into .avis!)

I read something about the developments in AE 8, but as it will also take some time to come, i could see no p2 implementation, which is a pitty!

So i think the only route to go will be: editing in Edius 4(hopefully with all that beauty pal settings) and cc and composit the material in AE or where ever...but using Tiffs will need a lot of space and performance....rrrrr!

Am i missing something or is there a more smooth way to do all this??

Maybe this threat hasn´t poped out enough, but the sales on the Pal HVX seem to be high, so there should be a lot more facíng this postpro issues...
funny, when the HVX was announced I was asking about postpro workflow and all I got was: dude, editing with DV100 will be much easier than HDV, since its less compressed and by the time the baby hits the market most editing solutions will offer DV100 editing - yeah right...
I really don´t know whats going on behind the scenes here, but I can edit HDV with every freakin editing application out there, why not DVCproHD - its just a f***ing codec, isn´t it?
It was hard enough to cash out fot P2 cards, I´m not willing to spent another grand on new software (add learning time) just because it is the only one supporting this darn codec!
Pana - just gimmy a break...

Spartacus - I fully agree. I wonder if anybody is taking care of our problems. We'll see if the new V4 of EDIUS Broadcast is going to fully support the HVX200E. Like hvx_germanboy I'm not willing to do additional conversion work - I need native support in my NLE.

I am really wondering that we are sitting here in this boat togther and:

1st: we seem to be quite few at the moment, which makes me wonder, cause there have been sold deffinitly more then 750 HVXE in europe since it was released, which is like spartacus said not few (i guess its much more, cuase some european countries didnt take part in this promotion thing, not talking about china, new zealand, australia users....)

2nd: why there seems not much support in this editing and post question by Panasonic and others? (have to admit that canopus folks really tries, but they cant say for sure that edius4 will support all hvx200e modes yet...)

So i am really hoping that there is a solution coming up for us european users!
I was even willing to hop on the MAC train, but seeing that they have to convert all the footage didnt kame it attractive anymore, in a time where we easyly talk about Terrabyte storage for our projects...!

So lets see what happens..and PRAY!

To all you pal users like me
I have heard that edius 4 will support 720 50p and also 25p
Ive also heard that Maatrox axio le will fully support p2 dvcpro hd by the summer
Hang on in there and a few surpises and remedies should be appearing

Hey deebee,

what do you mean by you "heard" this rumour, do you got any further info on that?Cause i know that canopus was planning to do so, but nobody could tell me if it will actually be in the final version of edius 4 broadcast!?

And what about the matrox thing-do you mena by fully p2 support?
Curious to get some further info! Thanks deebee!

p.s.-"meta-lingo"-someone interrupted you while typing the message??
