GH4 Any new info on 3 axis gimbals for GH4 ?

I've spent the last hour looking through old posts regarding 3 axis brushless gimbals and the GH4. DJI Ronin, Came 7800, TurboAce, etc. I was wondering if there was any new info or advice regarding these or other gimbals ?

As far as non-motorized gimbals, I have tried the Blackbird with both my BMPCC and GH4 and to be honest I never got good results. I spent a lot of time balancing,practicing,etc and I'll admit that the poor results could boil down to my inabilities as opposed to the Blackbirds. At any rate, I'm turning next to the brushless versions for a handheld.

I have some experience with drone mounted Gopro gimbals like DJI HD-3D and ARRIS 2-D (older AM board) . I have quite a bit of DJI drone equipment, but I don't think I trust their support enough to drop $3000 on a Ronin, but Came's support doesn't seem much better. I'm just a hobbyist but I would like to produce some good hand held footage.
Is the 3 axis brushless gimbal world still a crap shoot ?

Loving the Dji Ronin.

Not sure what you mean by Dji's support. The Ronin was delivered with everything needed for a well put together gimbal right in the box. Including a case that is just perfect for the system. I mean, you get the gimbal, balance stand, remote, rods for lens support, battery that runs for HOURS with a light camera, rod claims to mount accessories, and the laser cut case to pack it all up in. Then, in 2 minutes you download a free app to your phone to adjust the parameters of the device wirelessly though bluetooth. It carries a camera as small as the Gh4 though a fully kitted RED Dragon.

I shot this the day after my Ronin was delivered. The aerials are shot from a hell and a drone, but the ground shots with movement are all the Gh4 on the Ronin. We walked around the beach for maybe 6 hours. I had the Ronin on the whole time and still had 50% battery life left.

In the multi-rotor world DJI products are known to perform well for the most part, but if you need support, it is very troublesome. I've experienced this myself twice with Gopro Zenmuse gimbals. There are too many customers that purchased Z15 Zenmuse (for BMPCC,GH4, or Canon) gimbals ($2500 or more) that did not properly function and they were stuck, some had to purchase a second unit just to keep their business going since the repair time is months. I am sure that there are many Z15 Zenmuse gimbals that function fine, but if one has issues it is quite problematic to get repairs/warranties.
 
Letus announced the Helix Jr. which is a downsized version of their full-sized Helix. It's intended for payloads up to 7 lbs.

I handled a prototype Helix at last years CineGear, & liked the form factor, but have no idea how well the system performs, especially as so much is dependent on the software.

That's interesting. Any idea how heavy the Helix Jr will be?

I've been eyeing a gimbal but the size and weight of most of them are offputting - they're mostly geared to DSLRs rather than mirrorless.

These have just shipped today so sure we will get a few reports next week of just how good (hopefully) they are, the videos look impressive. Held back from ordering until a few real life user reviews hit the net.

I have heard mostly good things about the Came 7800, glad to hear your experience has been good. It's their 3rd or 4th kick at the can at making a gimbal so I think they have got it mostly figured out.

Nebula also looks very interesting but the weight restrictions might be too limiting.

Yeah, can't complain. FYI, they aren't making the gimbals, they send their request to DYS and DYS is the manufacturer who makes it, then they just stick their own brand on it :) but overall it can be improve still, their came-8000 may be good but I dont know...
