Any lens campatible with Nikon D5300 AND D7000?

Hi there, I'm interested in shooting indoor educational videos and practicing photography outdoor. I think I might buy a used d7000 and a used d5300 and use both for photography and the d5300 for indoor and outdoor video. Are there any lenses that would fit both cameras for this purpose? I'm on a budget and would love a lens for the d5300 that is also compatible with d7000 and perhaps the new d71000 if i buy it in some years from now when it's lower in price.

Kind regards,
Christian

Any Nikon AFs lens will work on both cameras; just don't get any D series lenses as they won't auto focus on the D5300. Sigma, Tamron and Tokina also make quality lenses that are compatible with Nikon cameras. Personally, I'd start with one camera and then buy another once I've learned how to use the first one.

Thank you. I bought the d5300. Do you think the KIT lens for d5300 would be compatible with a canon d7000 or d7100?

Kind regards

Canon doesn't make a D7000 or D7100 ;)

Yes the lens is compatiable. Nikon makes DX and FX lenses. The 5000 and 7000 series are both DX sensors. But they can also use FX lenses. Again, you can only autofocus with the newer lenses on the 5000 series, it will not autofocus the older "D" series lenses because it lacks a focus motor in the camera body. So those lenses will revert to being manual focus only. The 7000 series has that motor.

If you include aftermarket and aren't looking for AF, we could do a couple hundred pages on this thread...

AF on the 5300… your choices do narrow.

Thank you very much for the help!

So far my list of lenses to get for the D5300 looks like this

1. ALLAROUND: Kit lens Nikkor AF-S 35-55mm VR2 OR Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8 DC Macro
2.PORTRAIT: Nikkor AF-S 35mm f1.8 OR 50mm f1.8
3.
LANDSHAPE/CINEMA: Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 for NIKON

The 18-35 f1.8 is sharp at all apertures and focal lengths. Plus it's f1.8, so great for low light. Just note it doesn't have image stabilization and is on the heavier side.
