F55: Any footage from the F5/55?

I don't know if you're in the USA, but Sony USA has arranged a zero 0% financing deal if that is of any interest to you.

As for the lack of exposure tools on F5/F55 (ships only with zebras), Sony is looking for feedback from its customers who would like to see specific features implemented soon than later. So if you haven't done so already please visit the POLL FEEDBACK thread I've setup in the Sony Community forums and have your say! http://community.sony.com/t5/F5-F55/POLL-Exposure-tools-on-F5-F55/m-p/73891#U73891 Just list the exposure tools you would like in priority sequence.

Is that mean no Waveform and no Histogram until July ?!!!

It means there is no confirmation of what other exposure tools other than ZEBRAS are even planned for the F5/F55.

It would be best to get on Sony forums and make noise about it, please see the thread there (and cast your poll).

Manufacturers are in a terrible bind. Release too early and your product is labeled beta. Release when feature set is complete and somebody else has beaten you to the market. I have come to accept the fact that most products-- hardware and software-- could stand another 6 months or so of development. It took me a year to stop cursing FCP X (now I don't curse it; I just scratch my head). I do think it is more important to have working F5/55's out there with working AXS-5. Current lack of exposure assist is a nuisance rather than a deal-breaker to me. I will repeat what I said early on in the discussion. I think Sony is very upfront about what is coming and on what timetable. Manufacturers are generally not that transparent. Get the TVLogic or if you can spring for $2600, the SmallHD DP7 OLED which can even display full screen scopes. But I must say, I love that spot meter in my F3 and used in conjunction with the false color on my Pix240, I am pretty confident in my exposures.

I'm just gonna come right out and say it - just grab your trusty (and most probably dusty) old lightmeters fellas...

What is a light meter? Do you measure meters with it? Is it called a Light Feet here in america? Is it Light as opposed to heavy meter?

I use my light meter all the time, so it will be no change for me, but I like a bit of sanity check too using at least the spot meter function over skin, grey card or other areas of the frame to check my levels.

Sekonic L478-DR is such an amazing light meter, especially for shooting in S-Log. Take a look at Ryan Walter's website and his custom profiles. It is so nice to use incident readings as a starting point for exposure in addition to the reflected readings from the camera.

I believe it's the distance light travels in a metre Douglas. And from memory, they're called 'light yards' in the good old US of A.

Just a word of caution using someone else's light meter profiles:

If you truly plan to set your digital exposure according to a light meter, you really should perform your own calibration between grey card, camera, lenses, and light meter to make absolutely sure that the f-stop reading you get matches that of the iris on your lens. There are a 100 reasons to establish your own working ISO of your camera in effort to make sure the f-stop of your meter is sync'd up to you camera with lens. Certainly figuring it out on-set is the last place to do it.

Everything from the firmware version in your camera, DSLR vs cine glass, poor lens markings, to dip switch settings in your light meter can throw results way off. So not only is a pretest "a calibration", but a way to gain confidence that you are in fact getting the right amount of light to expose for 18% middle grey.

I've already read a few light meter disaster stories from people downloading profiles that are camera or light meter specific only to completely botch exposure during production.
