Any examples of the D800 in a "real" production yet?

Still waiting for the short film to get finished up.

I did just wrap shooting a commercial for a video game company using the D800/Ninja 2. I'll be able to post that once its edited and uploaded...I'm under NDA until then.

If anyone can correctly identify all the camera/shot matchups in that piece (which looks great btw), with no inside information, I'll eat a square foot of Duvatyne...

So please, maarek, spare us Mission Impossible and tell us which cameras, which shots. I'd study that with considerable interest... : )

All the shots in the forest (two guys snipering and explosions around) 7d. Mostly 720p (which is horribly aliased). The night silhouette shot is also 7d at 12800 ISO (had to clean that up a bit ;).

All of the shots with the water explosions (D800)

All of the inside scenes (guys running inside) 7d and Sony nex-5n.

Shooting around cars (5d mark III, D800, 7d all mixed, mostly 5d mark III)

I'm looking at the "trailer" and I don't even strictly remember which shots were which. They start to blend together! D800 had the most dynamic range (with the best - raw stills quality), 5d mark III was the cleanest (especially in 720p). 7d and nex-5n were quite alike.

The amazing Showtime series, Dexter is using the D800 along with the Alexa. The scene in the first episode of season 7 where Deb is at the gas station at night was shot with the D800 as was this scene (or part of it at least).

Great article, thanks for that. Also really cool to note that they decided after testing and comparing to the Arri Alexa that they would use the card for recording rather than the external HDMI recorder route. It's what I've decided to do as well, but nice to have it blessed by the likes of these folks.

One amusing typo: "So we got two of the cameras in while we were shooting a pilot in April and we were absolutely flawed by the imagery"

Ha!
