Any chance to get 4K2HD Prores super slowmotion with end trigger?

I just got the Odessey 7q and I love the features.

Mostly I love the 4K2HD Prores. But 2 things I really enjoy and love in my Sony FS700 is the awesome super slowmotion with the "End trigger" feature. I have captured things and especially wild life which I would never have captured without the "End trigger".

The 2 K raw gives me the super slowmotion in 12-bit but it only gives me 12 minutes of filming and I don't have my enjoyable "End trigger" feature.

The Prores 4K2HD 10-bit looks amazing compared to the internal 8-bit so my greatest wish for a future Odessey 7q firmware update is:

4K2HD Prores 10-bit with Super slowmotion (200/240 fps) with the Sony FS700s "End Trigger" feature.

this is a quite crazy wish.
you would need 240fps 4k raw recording which won't work at all.
plus internal decoding
plus buffer.

But right now the Odessey can record 2 K Raw in Super Slowmotion. A ProRes 2 K with Super Slowmotion and with "End Trigger/buffer" would be amazing.

But maybe I already have what I hoped for. (Sorry just got the Odessey yesterday so I haven't looked into all the new stuff it can do). I apologize.

Am I correct that the first on the list ProRes 422 is 10-bit and does give me super slowmotion in 10-bit with "End trigger"?

I can now answer my own question after playing with the different setups. No Super Slowmotion in 4:2:2 ProRes HD 10-bit........sadly.

I guess I will stick with the internal 8-bit and the awesome "End trigger" for my wild lige shootings untill a better options in the Odessey comes out.

If we had in Odyssey 7Q trimming it would make it a little easier to save some space... that would almost be better than end trigger

Can't happen. Trimming means that the memory on the SSD will get fragmented. That slows down the write speed dramatically. And when you're recording 240p you need all the speed available.

hey mitch, thanks for replying to all of our questions. is there a last clip delete function on the 7Q?

Mitch, isn't there discussion of recording the 4K RAW 120p end-trigger out of the camera's buffer? If it can accomplish that, and it should as output is only 60p, then in theory there could be 120p 4K2HD w/4-second burst, correct? Personally I think this would be our best option, though I realize it's not 240p.

No, such a function would also create fragmentation on the SSD, lowering write speeds.

I used to be the guy dealing with Phatom high speed cameras to the industry. The Phantom CineMags also could not delete the last take for the same reason.

We do plan to do exactly that, but have not yet enabled the function. It involves a bit of talk-back communication with the camera, so takes a bit more programming.

Hi Mitch, you posted something a while back about all the features that are on the road map (it was the post where you mention ProRes HFR for the first time). I can't find it now. Could you point me in the direction of that post please? And are those feature still relevant?

I honestly don't recall the post. I have not deleted anything so it should be around somewhere.

The roadmap is still relevant, but we may have shifted some things around a bit. Certainly our target dates have pushed, but then you already know that.

It's here - page 73, Odyssey 7 & 7Q update:

Appreciate it guys. I know how you all feel and also know enough to step back and let you express it.

For the outputs from FS700, let me clarify the roadmap:

1- 2K RAW up to 240p (current)
2- 4K RAW up to 60p w/120fps burst (in imminent firmware update)
3- HD video recording in popular codec 422HQ, up to 30p and sourced from camera video output not RAW (in imminent firmware update)
4- HD video recording in popular codec 422HQ, up to 60p and sourced from camera video output not RAW (in later release)
5- 4K RAW converted to 4K video, supersampled to HD and recorded in popular codec 422HQ (planned for this release, may push to ensure optimum image quality -- we are tweaking now)
6- 4K RAW converted to 4K video, supersampled to HD and recorded in popular codec in 444 (in later release)
7- 4K RAW converted to 4K video, recorded in 4K in popular codec 422HQ (in later release)
8- 2K RAW converted to 2K video, recorded in 2K in popular codec 422HQ up to high frame rates (in later release, currently testing data rates)

Eight different recording format options on just one camera. The only change listed above to what was previously announced is in #5. We are adding additional tweaks to our supersampling conversion from 4K to HD to optimize the picture quality. You can look at the image we deliver right now that converts the 4K to HD; you can hook your Odyssey7Q up to a large monitor and see it. We think it quite nice but it was really designed just for monitoring, not as a final recorded master. So we have dramatically improved it. But as one only gets one shot at a first impression, we want it to be as good as possible so we may need to hold back on that one a bit to tweak it as we can. I will note that if we release the firmware update and then have this function finished a week later, we're not going to make anyone wait until our next round of planned firmware updates to add it in. We're all tired of the waiting game.

This is an interesting and promising roadmap...the only that leaves me wondering is when?

Yeah that would be the one. Thanks! Mitch, is this still on? It was this post that inspired me to invest in the system...

If it's taking this long to even get 4K2HD @ 60fps, I wouldn't exactly hold my breath. You might implode.

Yep, that post was from three months ago. That's a long time in camera world. To get the entire roadmap of features, Mitch, how long are we talking about? A year, 2 years? Just would like some realistic estimations here.
