Another Wireless HD transmission option on the way-Alterntive to TeraDeck Cube?

I was hunting round for an alternative to the TeraDek cube and came across this box. It is available in Japan and I got an email from them this morning saying it would be released in North America in January after its debut at the CES. The price in Japan works out to be around $350 US. I look forward to seeing this on the market as an alternative to the TeraDek product and providing a tool that does not need a receiver + monitor so your clients or director/ad etc. can use an iPad or smart phone or....whatever. It is small and sits on the shoe of your camera or elsewhere, has hdmi input as well as composite and audio. If it works and is under $500.00 I am in for sure. The C300 with its built in transmitter is a very nice and I can see this as being a must have feature down the road.

It was one of my questions as well. I tried to buy one from them but they won't sell to North America until after the release and it would appear they are focused on a consumer market. Perhaps a Japanese speaker/reader might get more info out of the website?

Interesting. I am a bit dissapointed the resolution is limited to 704x528. Kind of an odd number which does ot even cover DVD specs if you want to repurpose.

First, the 704x528 is in the CIF spec. Second, you want to take a (MAX 1.5 Mbps) live stream then convert it for DVD distribution? Please label all your DVD's as such so I can know not to purchase. I would recommend making the DVD from the master files recorded by the camera not the live stream.

hdmi and composite does seem to slant pretty heavily towards consumer market.

I think everybody here knows the master files are best... I don't stream but if I did a multi-camera live event that was streamed it would be nice to be able to produce a DVD from the mixed finished product wouldn't it? What I should have said was that I would (NOT) want to use this unit for that purpose. I will admit I am ignorant of what CIF stands for, so you got me.

I guess some may have misunderstood.... others... I was looking at this simply as a way to have fewer people peering into my monitor and steping on my feet or re-adjusting the angle when I am looking away, to make life easier for the folks shot listing, doing continuity and all of those other jobs that need to monitor what we are shooting with our rigs. I was looking for an alternative to the TeraDek and that would not cost $2K. And I don't think that for under $500.00 we are going to conquer the world of distribution and broadcast.

Where? In Japan only. I have a cousin who lives there hence I am planning to ship it to her place and ask her to send it to me. I live in Malaysia. However, after seeing this video, I might reconsidering of purchasing this 1st generation of the product: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=pBg-9qP9jtk I might want to wait for its 2nd generation as the latency is pretty bad according to this video (above link). Please guys, do let me know if you think I should still buy it. It is pretty lousy from what I can see unless you are not going to do much panning from the camera. Thanks.

Thanks for the YouTube link kicap. I agree with you that the video does not represent what any of us would be looking for in this device. I would wait for the CES in January and see what it looks like there and I suspect there are bound to be other devices that do the same coming out soon. Thanks again for moving the thread forward with good information.

Go to more than half of this video and you will see the latency is quite good but this is only applies when you connect the device to the LAN cable which for me ....defeat the whole purpose of getting a wireless transmission afterall.

So, we might have to wait until someone improve this device in the near future.

Thanks Brian for searching on this as I was so desperately wanting something like this. Currently have to settle with ASUS WiCat...

Ok, so perhaps someone can make sense out of this since I can't. It appears to me that the device may operate on a LAN which would mean it would be possible to use it to monitor a camera output but the reviews I have read are merely reprints of the same hand-out from the company. Nobody has done a proper story on the gizmo, just the same crap. I found the link to the manual and if anyone else has input it would be great. I don't think anyone here is interested in having to UStream stuff. Just feed to the set or continuity and p.a. etc. I did send emails to the company too asking but I think they are all in the casino.
