GH3 Another Winner For The GH3

Thanks to Emeric for this beautiful example of GH3 image quality, happier and happier that mine is on pre-order!

Brudney...

You may be right, I am not technically skilled enough to say. I do know a few things for sure: 1) I loved my GH2 and the images from the GH2 were stunning. 2) The pre-release GH3 is also capable of producing stunning images. 3) With all of the other new features of the GH3, which are lacking on the GH2, the GH3 is simply a winner of a camera and worth upgrading to for me.

Agreed, there's a lot to like about GH3. Whether or not it truly is a winner camera remains to be seen once we've read a couple of reviews and seen more footage.

At the price point and with the given features the GH3 IS a winer (without real contenders atm though...). Still, being a couple of hundred dollars cheaper than the other manufacturers offerings only will count, if IQ is on par with them. The IQ in this video was great though, as far as one can tell from web compressed videos...

Can't see anything here the GH2 isn't already doing.
As with many goods, a "must buy" normally skips one generation. So many GH2 owners will probably skip the GH3. But constantly repeating the GH3 will only deliver what the GH2 already does, is a) tedious and b) actually wrong.

Have there even been comparison videos yet? Seems like most comparisons are done from memory, which is wholly inaccurate when it comes to comparing two things. I'd prefer to see the GH3 with it's Long GOP 50Mbps compared in the same exact scenario with the GH2 with Flowmotion or one of Driftwood's latest patches.

Great video but at the same time it plays towards the strengths of this camera (bright, daylit scenes). I loved my GH2 but things like the lcd screen changing color when hitting record, the horrible way it handled gradients and purposeful underexposure, the weird black line that showed up in lowlight footage above 800, the crazy amount of noise you get at high isos, and the sensor reflection you would get when the camera was aimed toward light sources always kept it from being my solid A cam. Hopefully those problems were fixed this go around.

Now THAT would be a review worth doing, especially on a production model GH3. But interesting even now with the prerelease models.

It will be worth it to me to upgrade for one of two reasons. If the stills are much better. I know most of us shoot video with these but it would be nice to get the image closer to what I can get on the canons. AND... If it allows you to monitor HDMI in 60p.

I do think that 1080 60p is a nice improvement and the wifi stuff but if the ability to monitor in 60p is there.. then that's reason enough for me to upgrade. After all, bought my GH2 on December 6 20010 so it's about due! I'm noticing some issues with the GH2 but that's fine... What an amazing camera for the price.

I think, relative to it's cost, I've made way more money with the Gh2 than any other camera I've owned.

Footage looks amazing..... Let's see any Canon dslr give you such detail on wide shots. Furthermore wait till this camera gets hacked. GH2 is am excellent camera with the hack, only problem for me though is after iso 800 it's to much noise. GH3 should be able to do 1600 iso easily without the noise.

I try to stay under ISO 800 with the GH2. It has to much noise for my taste and requires clean up with denoiser.

We're both wrong until the thing is actually out.

I don't know about that. Many of those back lit shots showed very nice color depth relative to the black and white effect the GH2 gives when DR is completely overwhelmed.

That and the colors look a lot better. Morie is defiantly going to be a issue, there were a few shots were it was there.
