C100: Another update, another lack of 60P

Not that I don't love the C100. Its my go to camera. But the lack of 60p just hurts at times. I'm not asking for 120 or anything, hell 60p at 720p would be better than nothing.

As awesome of camera's canon has made, the lack of 1080 60p on the c100/ c300 is just sad. when will canon get its act together?

But requires a workflow an extra step.

It's literally two buttons (in FCPx), check the De-Interlance box and right above that you set field dominance to upper, and you have 60p.

The "lack" of 60p on the C100 is no longer an issue to me. If they want to add it, great, but I can make due with 60i just fine.

60p in the c100 would make the c300 that much less desirable, especially with the release of the ninja blade.

+1
No issues for me. Quick easy and looks good. Better than 720/60p.

Out of curiosity I grabbed the c100 and c300 and cne-50mm and shots 60i vs 60p. Will edit it when I get home. If anyone else has tested this let me know and link if possible

Sweet! Any workflow for Premiere Pro? Any for Vegas?

So I haven't uploaded the footage yet but initial impressions are slow motion is reasonably possible using the work around in post but the drop in resolution is much lower than 720p. Putting the 1920x1080 c100 footage next to the 720p footage of the C300 the c300 still had a much sharper resolution though this could be attributed to the 35mbps compared to 24mbps on c100. Just for kicks I threw in the fs700 on 1080 60p using same lens. Its just unfair how much sharper the fs700 is in comparison with the 1080p

In the end I still feel canon is gimping their camera's by being so far behind. With nikon introducing 1080 60p on their dslr's now the cinema line seems to be getting left behind. I get the bad feeling that if we have yet to see a update on the 60p side of these camera's more than likely it will only come in the form of a new model.

All in all the work around works but loses that tack sharpness I fell in love with.

I thought (ok hoped)..that the rumour of anw Cinema Camera at Nab in April might be true but now they have updated the C100/C300 firmware so close to that it seem there probably won't be.

I agree with you though....hopes for 50p/60p in 720 or 1080 won't be seen until new model.

I use Premiere Pro...

I'm in PAL land, so first I set up a 25p project. I drop the (in my case) 50i footage in to the timeline, it will ask to change settings to match clip - I choose "No" or "Keep existing settings". Then, once the footage is on there, I change the speed-duration, by right-clicking, to 50%. Footage looks great to me. And now I have slo-mo.
