C100: (Another) Teacher video shot on the c100

Really well done. Did you do the motion graphics too?

One thing I might tweak to the interview shots: since they're on a dark background, a tiny bit of back-lighting/rim-lighting/whatever would've been the cherry on the cake for me. Just to set the talking heads off the backdrop a bit. But I know what it's like working with a limited crew (or just me!) and only having a few bits of gear at my disposal.

I loved the look, the technical components and the audio quality and absolutely hated the content. To my British viewpoint, self-indulgent, cringeworthy, sickly and smug! I really hated it from start to finish. I appreciate why they wrote this, and can understand where the content came from, but it just annoyed me. It's probably the falseness of all the people in it - I really don't quite know why it annoys me so much.

It smack of those old beauty contests where everyone wanted to help children and have world peace!

Oh - and I'm also a qualified teacher!

Agree with the technical part of you work....grea job!!

Love your honesty Paul....I had seen the first one and was not going to watch it right away but had to once you mentioned it.

I also see what you mean....."We are magicians..." ...."we teach how to read and write".....oh..Christ.

They are all the personality type of those people in Talk Show America Audiences....who clap like seals, would poke your eye out with enthusiasm and who seem to be high on sycophantic nonsense.

Hey DrummondDB. Thanks for the kind words. Yes, did motion graphics and everything (except writing).
I agree about the backlight. I forgot to use it the first night, then remembered it for the 2nd. So some have it and some don't.
I always seem to forget something!

And to Paul and Eire...interesting comments about the content/writing.
I'm wondering if there might be a cultural divide among teachers on either side of "the pond."
I say that because there are literally dozens of very positive comments from US teachers who have watched it on youtube and Facebook. Not even one single negative comment (and we usually get a mix in our posts and videos).
Either way, your comments are appreciated, and I suppose strong reactions (both pro and con) are always preferable over indifference.

A very reasonable and measured Danny. You are right...it is a cultural thing. You would probably have the same thing to say about something we would put up based along the same lines. I agree 100% with your last comment too....better to have an opinion than sit on the fence. Great job!

HI Eire...thanks for your note!
Hey, I guess there's no reason we can't treat each other on here the way we'd treat each other in person. We can disagree while being while being respectful, right?

Very moving video. You've struck a good balance of emotion and information without being saccharin or sanctimonious. Great job!
I agree that a rim light would have put an extra nice touch on the dark backgrounds. Nonetheless, this looks outstanding.
BTW, I'm from WI, which has recently been a political battleground and has vilified teachers, and really needs to hear this message. THANKS!

Hi Pelican,

Thanks for your comments. You totally nailed the reason we created this video. It's for teachers, who we feel have been under-appreciated and over-blamed in this country.

-Dan
