Can you be more clear about what ones you've already looked at, what you don't like with what you saw, what price you are looking at, etc. Your question is not defined enough. Do you want to spend $4000 or $400 for example?
If it's an on-camera Direct-to-Edit box you're after, I wouldn't bother. Unless you're plugging in something like a 10-bit 4:2:2 recorder (nanoflash, pro-res, avc-intra) you won't see any benefit since the AVCHD codec the HMC uses is highly efficient. It beats XDCam EX even with a lower bitrate ~21Mbps AVC vs 35Mbps EX. Even with something like the nanoflash, most people might not notice the difference (unless you're keying and need the extra color space).
It is a Standard Definition fix, but what about a portable BetacamSX recorder? It would take in the SD Component signal, and the line-level audio off the camera, record it to good quality digital format. To keep an SD signal, this is probably your best analog bet.
Next would be a regular BetacamSP recorder. Adds another generation of analog loss though.
