Another HD editing question

Ban Me Please!
OK. this may be obvious to some, but I can't seem to get it straight.

Can I edit my entire project at HD resolution and then once I'm all done downconvert? I guess I know the overall answer to this, but what is the most effective way to do this?

Would I take my entire project on a harddrive to a post house and do something with it there or would it be effective enough to output/downconvert in some form within Final Cut Pro?

I think I might want to hire an editor on this next project. :)

Thanks,

Jason

You can capture HD over firewire (I love you Panasonic!) edit using FCP's wonderful support of the DVCProHD codec (I love you Apple!) and you can use Compressor to prepare SD files - either DV or m2v depending on whether you want to go back to miniDV or DVD... (or pretty much any other SD format you choose)

Even working in 1080i60 you shouldn't have too many problems (on a modern desktop machine), although the hard drives may struggle to keep up if you're running multiple streams.

Once you've done your edit don't forget to back up your master and your original clips, 'cause you don't want to lose them should you need to re-edit.
