Another great Old Spice ad.

Yes I thought of that but when they pull them away (a few frames later)
you can see them from the side (a different angle)
and you can see its "one" piece.

Anyway, if you watch that rehearsal video you can see there is NO
wall at all as I suspected.
I truly doubt they are going to do all the details in that rehearsal down to
the power saw but leave out a very complex wall during at rehearsal.

and the fact that the wall disappears. Real good theory on the wall. The jeans are the thing that's killing me. The actor said he was wearing those jeans.

I noticed the same thing, it flops back as one piece when it's pulled apart. Not really that big a use of CGI.

My thought is maybe it's a more elaborate version of the shirt drop from the first commercial. You'll notice that he wiggles a bit after he lands, and that he's barefoot jumping in, and you can't see his hands. I'm starting to think there were a pair of jeans and boots propped open with some wire, and he just landed in them, then adjusted before the hot tub fell apart.

I mean, if he really was landing on the motorcycle and really was wearing those jeans, I don't know how else it could have been done. And I don't even want to know how many takes it took to get right.

he had to land PERFECTLY to get that right. And if that is how they did it, I'm with you..There had to be many many many of takes.

Yeah, on the original post #1.

He does say in an interview he was wearing jeans the whole time but wouldn't divulge the secret.

Maybe the jeans weren't real jeans, as in the thick denim material but a maybe thin silky plastic material painted or dyed to look like jeans? That way he could have them rolled up under his shorts a bit without too much obvious difficulty? Then whatever manual technique to pull them down and/or the other shorts off? That's all I got right now.

In the interview, he said he was wearing those jeans, but he didn't say he was wearing them the whole time.

If it was not CGI the only thing it could be is that he had his jeans rolled up inside the shorts and within seconds he was able to pull them down somehow. But where did the boots come from. Getting a precise flight path to land directly in a pair of boots would be next to impossible. Not totally impossible but real effing close to it.

Well, look at that video Barry posted about the quick-change magician. That was impressive, btw. But, I think it was along those lines. If it wasn't cgi, then a trick of some sort. Specially made shorts that drop down, etc. his boots were probably slippers or something he could easily slip into.

Ok me being a detective I found an interesting quote.

REEL EFX is the effects company that did that commerical.
On their website they have the final commercial available to view.
The following is the caption for that video. Hmmmm.

"New Old Spice spot. All transitions were shot practically in camera except for the final plate shot with his jeans and boots on"

bummer.

AND..
They show that behind the scenes video on their website as well.
Here is the caption.
"Behind the scenes rehearsal of the Old Spice commercial 'Questions' - (sequel to Man Your Man Could Smell Like, aka I'm on a Horse). Practical effects: log roll, walking on water, cake drop, flying rig for waterfall jump, water in waterfall, hot tub to decking."

F'ing cgi wins again.

Haven't gone through the entire thread.

Did you guys see this one? Bruce Campbell fans unite! :)
