Another face, another night.

Pink Floyd is playing in my head set. For real.

Also had fun playing with a photo of my niece in this one. Thought it might be fun to post here as well. Her real image is the bottom right. The "Black Dani" (Upper Right) has got a lot of compliments from her friends though.
She even asked me to do 2 others of her friends. Hahaha.

Actually Paul, Parametric Modelling is a way of modelling that anyone can do, to an extent. Here's a link to a program(s) that I did the above with. It has limitations but like I say, for modellers, combining all of the techniques opens up some interesting possibilities.

and google Looxis Faceworx

//edit:

A couple recent examples I did (heads only) in the past couple days. My niece in one from the previous post above.

Mucking about while doing some testing.

And while I would never solicit work here, like many of us, I'm always open for gig sugesstions.(eek. The date above should be 2016)

Yeah, Facegen in a kick.

Did a quick skeletal bvh motion capture test on my dani character just to get one out of the way. Nothing in this clip is finished by any means nor was it intended to be. No fingers or facial animations either.
Prepping a pile of mocaps for my library. Tedious as all get out so I did this little doo-dad in the interim.

Some of you may know this "dude".

Another 3D render.
I modeled the face only using C4D R17's new sculpting features.
Everything else are preexisting models by Daz3D.

Programs used:
C4D -for sculpting the face.
Daz Studio -models and rendering.
Photoshop -for final compositing.

Somewhat against my better judgement, here's a first for me in body rendering. I'm NOT happy with the skin quality. Iray with Daz here. Skin rendering at this point is still very difficult. Nudes aren't something I'm really interesting in at this point. Faces I'd like to get down first and then, maybe, ofcourse, nudes. Not there yet.
I'm just putting this out there because I'm having a few beers and there's noone else around here to talk to. And to let you know that I still struggle learning 3D after all these years. It's a never ending process. (Oh, and it is my face sculpt for above though.)
Maybe someone can relate. :) -Cheers.

And then we also have to worry about lighting techniques, camera settings, and everything basically covered at dvxuser. It's all in here at dvx. All of that stuff you have to know, even for digital works like this. And yes, fk, I'm still learning. Lolllll. :)

Hey Firehawk. I just wanted to first reiterate that I only sculpted the face and not the body. I did use some of Daz3d's parameters sliders to modify/shape the body however which is called Parametric Modelling and as I've mentioned before, "anyone" can do it. In the end it comes down to your eye and what "you" like or dislike during the shaping process.
Yes Firehawk you can do this with Daz3d. No 3D modelling experience is needed.

I use Daz3D right now for "starter" meshes and try to work within Daz's mesh framework to get a faster result using other 3D applications like C4D and ZBrush.
It's just a different workflow, for sure, that can speed up the process.
I do however prefer to hand mesh faces the old fashioned way, point by point, if total accuracy is needed. Those are only for one-off models though. Depends on the end purpose. But keeping an open mind to new methods, I'm digging the advantages to working within the Daz mesh restrictions. And there are many.

Daz3D is a free program. The morph shapes are not though outside of the ones supplied as starters with the free download, however they are very inexpensive and I should warn you, this program can become very addictive. :)

On a side note while I'm here, here's a picture recently taken that is just BEGGING to be sculpted and reproduced in 3D. I may even do it myself, serously, but also want to share it and maybe others might be inspired to give it a go. -Cheers everyone.

Actually, all of the methods I used on my old fly model could be applied here as well. What a great photo eh?

So enough with the Barby Dolls then as my friend sais to me. So now I have to impress her with something. I understand. I'll see what I can do.

Hey thanks Gord. I think you did a good job on her face. Daz3d sounds really interesting. I'm going to look into it. I have long since wanted to become a better modeler but am accepting the reality that I will never have the time. So maybe daz3d can help me out.

Hey, Just a random post here. I'm working on a new wokrflow and Mark Johnson was kind enough to provide me with hi-res photos. It's too early to elaborate yet but I have based his head mesh around the Daz3d G3M mesh. Now, I had to write two scripts in C4D to get around a workflow limitation in ZBrush, and, just saying I guess, I am still working with the Genesis meshes. Primarily because they are already rigged and weighted AND I have all of thier morphs available, for example, the youth/age morphs.

Anyways, it's very complicated, and I WILL update with what I've learned and I hope you come back. I "could" post a quikie from a few weeks ago getting the G3M mesh lined up in Zbrush. (fkn pain in the ass haha.) BRB.
//But I'm not giving everything away yet until I have it all down.

// This is very early on in the process getting it prepped for ZBrush. The rest I can't share quite yet. -Cheers man.

I'm working on it. WIP. Still a number of things to figure out. Everything is on seperate layers so it's not set in stone yet.
Still have the nose and right face to finish as well as the forehead and so on.
No eyes yet in this photo, just a reference of them in the eye cavity.
No paint yet, ect.
It's a learning process.

Scultpris is a free digital sculpting program. Bought by Zbrush. I've tried it. It's great to have a play with to determine if digital sculpting is something that you want to proceed with. Zbrush ofcourse would be the next step. [I'm not by any means a sculpter. For analog models it's about the only way to go i.m.o. Just a matter of learning.]

And any questions, comments or suggestions are welcome. I'm learning this as I go and can only hope that I'm getting some of it right. The size of the skin detail texture, which Photobucket scales down the images and can't be seen here, is one of my concerns.
Lacking any feedback, I'll have to find out how close I am the hard way as I get further down the pipeline. Frustrating? Yes. -Cheers.
