FS7: Another Baseplate/Shoulder pad/Rig thread for FS7 thread

If it works, it works. I find myself using the user buttons all the time mid shoot so wouldn't be able to shoot that way.

For what? Even when I was on the stock finder I had focus bash on my left forefinger (and will go back to that if SmallHD release their remote), I could ramp iris with the hand on the lens.

Absolutely not a good place to have the camera if going through some form of menu dig :)

All that stuff is on the Dp502 (theoretically coming to the front finger) I keep clear display and swivel my eyes right to check Im rolling on the front tally light. (tally should also come to the 502 even with clear display via meta down the SDi)

I have not even looked at the new 502 firmware which enables very good WFM yet.

When changing setups I might pop 'display on' to have a quick peak at the WFM media/batt remain or whatever.

I think using the 502/log you really just don't get involved in the camera apart from changing frame rate.

The message is mixed.

The electronics are awesome, luts in any mode are awesome RGB wfm is awesome.

They have not delivered the finger popper, which would add another level of awesome (focus at the selected finger including area offset)

The screen is shiny and needs a hood, and Iphone antiglare sticker, and the build is not what I feel is up there with Transvideo (which you could use to prop up your dolly track!)

I had to rejig the power as 5d batts were not a solution.

Dale smallHD is 'sending me some goodies' which may get around some of the issues.

I want a smallHD 502 'PRO' at 150% of the cost - but it does not exist. SmallHD understand Solo operating in a way TVideo do not.

If your business is good Id buy one and look to trade it out next NAB at a 50% depreciation.

I like to buy 'five year kit' so that feels wrong to me but in a £permonth of ownership probably makes sense - it is worth £35 pcm.

Its a bit like the FS7 - top end electronics in a slightly wonky package with no better options, either at all, or certainly not without tripling the budget.

haha.. sounds about right. About to drop far too much money on another Contax wide angle today and I'm now trying to limit what I buy to stuff that will make money but it might be worth a look down the line if/when they iron out some issues. I get the impression SmallHD give slightly more of a crap than Sony do.

The thing about a contax is that is is five year kit.. or 20, most of my glass I got in the early 1990s. - this electronic stuff needs a different approach mentally.

Yup, all my Contax glass is worth more than when I paid for it. Mostly why I steer clear of electronic stuff. Possibly with the exception of a sigma 18-35

Adam can you please list the parts you're using here - I like this Setup but the shoulder pad doesn't exactely look like the Zacuto an who is the manufacturer of the base plate where you have the rails ?

Looking at the Tilta rig picture I noticed a V-lock battery plate that doesn't require the use of the extension unit.
Anybody have any info on that?
