Just for fun... Clip: http://realm.cc/upload/Elton/JoeySlowH264.mov (15 MB h.264 QT)

My dog Joey in 1080i:

Through the Nattress plug-in I was able to downscale a little, convert to 60p, conform to 24p and get pretty natural looking slowmo. I downscaled to a 1600x900 frame size to smooth out the shot.

very cool! i had doubts about 60i but looking at this proves me wrong. you can see the red/orangish outline... the sun is setting?

"convert to 60p" eek. i wasnt aware of that, i guess i wasnt paying attention to the encoder as much. thanks for sharing

that's a good lookin' dog.

Thanks, he's a fun little dude.

t-h-e-w-h-o---I used a Nattress plug-in for FCP called "Standards Conversion" that has a subcomponent called "Map Frames/Fields to Frames HQ" which can deinterlace 1080i and turn it into a progressive 60p sequence, in selectable frame sizes.

I've tried this stuff in Shake and Compressor and achieved great results too, but they took an eternity to render. Nattress will deinterlace and anti-alias the footage, all in a very short time. It took my G5 dual 2.7 about a minute to render a 10 second clip into 60p.

hands down vdub is wayyy better than tmpgenc, its just too complex for alot of people. I would do it in my tutorials, but i think many would have trouble going as far in depth as i would go. hehe

HI Elton, I put some 60i footage through the Natress plugin, pretty much used the standard settings and it came our pretty sweet.

Cool! I keep plugging the Nattress stuff (pun intended) because it's awesome. Should be in every FCP users' bag of tricks.

Agreed, the value I get from Film effects is worth much more than I paid I can tell you. Lets hope Graham doesnt get any ideas :P
