Anamorphic on the F3

Very cool. A lot of your videos i notice tend to be on the lower end of exposure while keeping the blacks a little milky and also crushing the whites a bit. Skin is exposed here at around what.. 40 IRE?

Also, what did you use for the car mount? Thanks for sharing, looks great as usual.

Mmmm, what do you mean by crushing the whites? lower end of exposure? which one?
In slog you want mid grey around 36-40%. ;D

About car mount, it was just a regular door mount, the grip set it up.

i guess it would be lower end of exposure. Just seems in a lot of your videos that none of your whites ever go above what appears to be 80 IRE to my eyes. ( which i like! )

When you say regular car mount, could you be more specific? lol. Even if you don't know the exact name, what did the pieces resemble ( need to get something soon )

I feel that folks have a tendancy to overexpose images. Try going under by a stop and half of what you're used to. It will suddenly look "filmic".

I actually do that. And i always get a look i prefer. The trouble is having to brighten things later on with the 8 bit image.. I can't stand posterizing and the image breakup i get on the af100 so i have to compromise. I also bring the blacks down in camera instead of in post for the same reason. That Samurai can't get out soon enough.

You don't have to brighten it up.

With newer digital cameras, that have 10+ stops, you can leave skintone in the upper 40's low 50's. You will still have 4 stops under and 5 over key. In the old days when hd/sd cams had 6-7 stops you had to expose skin in the upper70's because you only had 3 stops under and 2 over.

Lately I'm trying to get skin to where most comedies these days get them. Thinking specifically of role models, pineapple express, etc...

Sorry to hijack the thread, back on topic.

Go anamorphic!
