i was torn between somekind of pity for someone being so clueless and passé but also quite disgusted at his pathetic attempt to sell the repair on top of the current market price but his arrogant and aggressive responses really settle the case...

dang...there is another 54 on ebay, buy it now for $2900US, ouch.. at least the seller isn't on crack
That 54 does appear to be mint, so I can understand a higher price, but this is still WAY too high in my opinion. I would be surprised if it sells anywhere near that price. Most 54's recently have gone for less than the 36's, because in truth they are not as sharp. (Of course when I pointed that out to Blake after some of his misinformation to a prospective buyer about SEVERE compromises with other adapters - he conveniently did not include that query in his published questions).
I would say that most 54's are valued between 700-1100 euros (950-1500 USD).

the 54 is a world of hurt, impossible to find diopters for it, and soo heavy that it will majorly damage your lens from the weight, unless you get rails and a bunch of supports. All that trouble and it's not as sharp. Well good cause you can stick in front of an L lens, but L's not as good as Leica or Ziess which have smaller filter dia thread and don't need this this 77mm size. The 36 is the one to get if you love flares. My 42 is sharp, but because of the MC, it's not so flare happy.
exactly. i often see people so caught up in getting the holy grail mentality they forget about the logistics involved in the first place to be able to use the device in a practical way.
i think the 36 & iscorama are great to have but would pass on the other heavier ones which are not so easy to operate. besides that i still have not been blown away by available footage from such expensive setup compared to what a lighter kowa prominar on top of a sharp 49mm threaded lens could do. (please someone prove me wrong)
i think the real attractive feature is the convenient focusing method as it quickly becomes a pain to double focus everything when trying some run n gun outdoors with projector adapters...
