Anamorphic adapter question

I just picked up an anamorphic adapter (Century optics model). Anyone have any tips on how to make sure the adapter is correctly oriented on the lens?

So far I have been eyeballing it but I am hoping that there is a more accurate way to do it.

Thanks in advance!

shine a light into the lens and make sure the anamorphic lens flares are horizontal.

check this video... 5 mins in!

Well, yeah but...

Well, yeah but...

Nice to know you can do this, however, why would you really want to? I own a Panasonic anamorphic lens which i previously had used to use with my DVX100 for 16x9. However, i cant seem to feel compelled to want to shoot in 2:85:1 for DSLR video. UNless I got hired to shoot a theatrical film and for some reason they wanted 2:85:1, but for most people who will see your work like that? On a 16x9 TV they will only get bars and slightly less sharp image as there not really getting the full 1920x1080 pixel count towards the vertical image. IDK, im just arguing against it for recreational reasons, and also to convince myself I don't need to want to do this. :)

i own the LA7200 panasonic adapter too, i've used it loads and i really like it but now its for special occasions and for a bit of fun, i do love the 2:35:1 shape it gives.

i stuck a trimmed iPOD screen protector on my LCD and drew 2 horizontal lines so i know what will get cropped in post for shooting 1080 without the anamorphic adapter, works great  and cheap
