OK, I know that this isn't HVX-200 news, but this could be something to tell the boss why you need to upgrade to HDTV equipment with an HVX-200 soon...

"ALSEA 12/19/2005 - The House passed a "compromise" Digital Television hard date shut off bill this morning as part of the omnibus budget reconciliation package.
The new bill sets the date for ending all analog television services as being February 17, 2009 (the Senate Commerce Committee had set April 7, 2009, the House Commerce Committee Dec. 31, 2008)."

Nice to have a "solid" date to work with now (I have 2 stations to convert over next summer)

However I will interject with a reminder:
HDTV IS NOT THE SAME THING AS DIGITAL-TV.
Digital TV can carry SD or HD signals (Analog can only carry SD). This does not mean that by Feb 17 everyone has to be HD ... there is NO requirement for anyone to ever become HD. No one *has* to upgrade to HDTV.
It's like 16:9 (Widescreen) and HDTV. They are of course not the same thing, though HDTV is always 16:9.

Just a friendly reminder for those reading, as this is one of the biggest mis-conseptions of the whole transition. - that has the public, and indeed (supprizingly) many 'in the business' confused.
Again: DTV is NOT always HDTV, But HDTV is always Digital.
