An Irish Volcano

This was from the UWOL competition on DVinfo.net. Shot mainly on the HMC41, but with some shots from my Panasonic TZ7 compact camera (the in-car ones and a couple of the climbing ones).

I lugged the big Sachtler tripod up there, which was great 'fun'. Edited and color corrected using Premiere Pro CS5, Music from AKM.

This little camera gives a great picture, especially on a nice sunny day like this, and more importantly it travels in a very managable small backpack.

Nice, relaxing story Mike. Both the HMC40 and TZ7 constantly suprise me with their abilities.

Thanks for sharing.

Mike, I don't live in an area even close to what you have, but I must admit, your video is an inspiration to do something like that for my area....

Bob, Dan, Thank you for the kind words!

This was acatually a rush job - I started it on a Saturday morning and had it finished by Sunday night, which is the speed of light by my standards. But it was fun to make, even if the nettle stings on my gorgeous bare legs took a month to fade...

I love the HMC40, for its picture quality and size. Sure I'd love a huge shoulder-mount camera, but until I win the lottery, this will do nicely.

Bob, it's funny that you mention about your surroundings. I tend to think mine are dull and boring (no deserts, no wild animals larger than a rat, no huge mountains) and am jealous of other places - like the desert from your RC plane! There'll be something round you that can eclipse my little mountain, I'm sure!

Mike, I guess that proves the point , "The other man's grass is always greener."

The video was shot in Palmdale, about a 2 hour drive from my house. I wish I wasn't in such a rush to get things done for school right now, I'd love to shoot and edit a short video showing you the area where I live.

Yes, Los Angeles has beaches, plus lots of traffic, nearby mountains, plus lots of traffic, Hollywood is about a 20 mile (32 KM) drive away, plus lots of traffic, even the Rose Parade on New Year's Day isn't that far either, plus lots of traffic, if I head south, there's the hills of PV, plus lots of traffic, and in case I forgot to say it, we have some of the biggest traffic jams in the USA.
