An interesting technique...

Im don't have the name for the technique and I would like to know how to shoot it. Im also unsure if this is the right forum, so don't kill me.

Okay so I need it that there is a group of people sitting on a bench and as another characters body passes the camera the people need to dissappear, like they weren't there.

Any suggestions?

Depends on what NLE you're using. Try shooting the person walking past the bench with nobody on it, then shoot the people on the bench, and you can either use a gradient transition between the two or matte it.

You can also shoot the scene with the people, and then shoot a blank without them. and then shoot yrou guy walking in front of a green screen and key them in on top to hide a wipe in the background.

Those were the easier ways to do it.
You are going to have to shoot 2 plates and mask your footage.

agreed. This really is the easiest way I can see a shot like this being done. No matter what, you're going to have to shoot 2 different plates. Unless those people are extremely skilled in ninjitsu and can disappear on demand. That'd be kind of neat. Heck, you could even do a steady cam shot with that! haha, anyways, back on track. Follow these guys' directions, and do research/read the help stuff in FCP about compositing.
