An Evening at the Trolley Station

Finally had an evening to shoot something with my 7D. Shot with the Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8, converted to Apple Intermediate Codec (FCP 5). Sharpness and contrast turned down in camera. CC only on two shots for continuity, the rest is untouched.

Enjoy!

Really nice light and well shot.

It's interesting about the people in public point above, did they just think you were taking snaps?

Nice mood. How high did you set ISO in the last shot?

I think the last shot was 1600, but I'll double check my cam and get back to you.

What's your etiquette for filming people in public?

For the wides and mediums I just shot away at whoever was around. I set up my tripod where I knew people would be and let them come to me. That way I wasn't creeping up on people, if someone didn't want to be on camera they could just choose to not stand by me, but no one seemed to mind all evening.

For the few close ups that I have I just went up to people and asked if I could take their picture, didn't even bother explaining about "this new DSLR that shoots amazing 1080p". Everyone was agreeable, a few were interested about my camera, but that was about it.

I assume you didn't don the una-bomber look portrayed in your avatar. :)

The skew is horrendous. This camera absolutely cannot be used for anything that moves with speeds faster than a walking pedestrian. Even when shot at angle the train was severely skewed. What a pity, because everything else looks pretty good.

hmmmm... the skew doesn't bother me at all. I really only think it looks bad when you're panning and stopping on stationary objects that go from skewed to straight in the same shot. A speeding train with some bend is A-OK with me.

I kind of agree. Those close shots of the train are going by so fast that I don't know that people who weren't looking for it would notice (in the quick moving shots specifically).
