An Average Night at the Mall Parking Lot

So I guess my main concern is if the flash inserts work in the tripping scene, should it just be satan, should there be sound, should there be more lame movies, or does it not work at all?

Even for those who think it's just f-ing retarded I'd appreciate feedback just to get a consensus about what sucks.

i found this funny :) though a bit confused as to why he went back to the same guy and it was like they didnt know each othe,r but watever. the first sequence i think can be edited tighter which would add to the comedy and keep it shorter cuz i think it went a bit 2 long. The flashes didnt work for me. some psychedelic theme mixed with those images may work better, but as it is its just a bland poster of watever image. it needs to be integrated into whats goin on better instead of the image just laying solidly onto of the action. I'd say lose the ghost rider and keep the other funny images.
the line about smelling druggy is funny lol.

I liked it overall...tighter editing will add to it and cut down the time making it better IMO.

Thanks, you definitely confirmed all the points I was worried about, now I know for sure what needs to be fixed up.

Your point about Ghost Rider is valid but there's a story behind why I won't change it, even against better judgment. It's an inside joke spawning from when a friend went to see the movie so drunk that about 20 mins though we had to carry him out, in front of huge lines of people waiting to go see it, so drunk he couldn't talk but when he sobered he wished he was able to say "Ghost Rider... so terrible..." So that's a little homage to him to say to the masses what he wasn't able to, also my way of thanking him for getting me out of that shitty movie.
 
I'm getting comments saying this movie looks "videoy."
Any solutions for this?
I've avoided using plug-ins but obviously they work, so any suggestions for Apple Color or FCP?

Reasons this looks non-filmic: ...so far
1. Handheld
2. Flesh tones off
3. Contrast too high?
 
this doesn't look like it was shot in 24p, which is a huge part in getting that 'film look'. there is also a lot of noise.
 
It was shot at 24p with 50th shutter, 1080.

The noise I expected shooting 3200 ISO, is it really that bad? I don't mind grain so maybe I let too much pass.
 
Yes the grain was the first thing I noticed. You want to shoot under 1000 iso, or else you will start to see the grains. I too like the dirty look, but this was just a bit much. I'd bring your blacks down just a bit, looks a little washed out and some of your shots were soft.
 
I'm really surprised by every aspect of making this short, I thought for sure everyone would be pointing out the net filter flares, but everyone jumped on the grain which something I didn't even notice. I tried bringing the blacks down like you suggested but the whole thing is just too underexposed to work, there's too much shadows it comes off too dark. Have to cut my losses on this one I guess, live and learn.
