195 magazines from 1976-2002 or thereabouts. When I got out of film school in 1975 I thought I wanted to do big Hollywood movies, became disenchanted and went into documentaries for 41 years, but for decades I kept my subscription going. Now I am downsizing again and these two boxes would make a very cool gift to someone who appreciates film history in the technical sense. Many are collector's items such as Michael Jackson's Thriller and Jaws. For all you young DPs who have batteries the size of a deck of cards, imagine doing 16mm film where you had to wear a battery belt around your waist as heavy as a scuba diver's lead weight belt? When the typical zoom lens was $10K. When ISO was so low you had to have generators for the simplest shoot. This is history and I will not give these to Goodwill!

$200 firm. Get ready for Christmas! Shipping from Chicago area zip code 60661.

What year was it? If I find one, it will take 25 minutes of my valuable time, you'll buy the whole thing and pay for shipping, correct?

Hey!

Do you have the one from 1976 (I think it's 1976) with an article about that new movie called STAR WARS?
It has a space shot of an X-Wing fighter on the cover.

My father used to get A.C. and that was the issue that caught my attention and made me a regular reader.

So you guys want me to look at every cover? I just might. DPs nowadays have it sooooooo easy.

Only thing worse now is there’s too many cameramen, thus bringing rates down. When I use an inflation calculator, I was making more in the 80s and 90s than what we can get now. In my hey day there were maybe 20 shooters in town so if half were union, and three were sick and four were already booked, two were on vacation...that left little ole me. Now there’s probably 1000 decent shooters and the interwebby thing allows clients to crowd source or compare, they’re in a better negotiating position than the old days. You will find these mags fascinating, especially if you put them in alphabetical order.

To get the camera to swoop around required giant cranes with several grips, now a $900 drone does it better. Oh well. I better stop or I may not part with them! The ads are the most interesting part. There was no real indie cinema in the 70-90s until the tech brought the price down. The cover stories of AC tend to be mega budgets. Interesting.
