hey guys
been using the 7d for a few weeks now and i just am having a rough time seeing everything on the lcd. i can't afford the zfinder by zacuto but would like something to magnify the image for myself... anyone using something that they can recommend?

Seems like the zfinder is really it. Also it seems like for something like that you would really want it to be of super quality and the zfinder seems like it's the way

Ok so I was blatantly wrong. Oh well! lol

At least I got chicken. (wonder if anybody will get that reference)

I'm using the DIY solution and LOVE it. It works exactly as I need it to and its great to pull focus with it. I haven't used the Z-Finder or the LCDvf (though that would be my second choice after the DIY solution).

Some people don't like the look of the rubber straps but it's fine by me. The quality is solid and the function is perfect, decent price.

Here's the same thing adapted with a base plate for a bit more money. He buys the Hoodman and bolts it to an adapter. You need his U-boat commander handles for mounting but it's very solid.

One of the things I like about the Hoodman is that it gives you a 1-to-1 view rather than magnifying the pixels. And the diopter lets me work without my glasses.

I just received the LCDVF piece, and it is AMAZINGLY great, very cheap comparing to Zfinder with 99€ plus shipping, fast shipment, great look that fits with your CANON EF L lenses with the red ring, delivered with 4 frames in case you wanna switch it with other cameras " 5D - 7D - EX1 and why not HVX200", it fits like love with the magnetic junction, it has a neck strap, and a beautiful bag made out of very good resistant material.
When you start shooting with it, it is a great safe feel, you can see the whole frame in your field view, dark enough even in day light.
I really recommend this great product from Estonia.
Hope this is helping....

Thanks, Chris - can you change the battery while the Redrock microFinder loupe kit is on?

It's not a show-stopper but...

How did you manage to order a LCDVF? The website doesn't give me any options - there's a form there if I want to become a retailer though? I tried PayPal and that went into nowhereland. Hmmm... secret handshake?

Sorry keenast but Tonis had it working briefly two weeks ago and I snuck my order in then. Quick ship, wonderful product! Be patient...it's well worth it.

Just incase you have not yet bought yours - on the 'Buy One' page, scroll to the bottom and DO use the retailers enquiry form. Just say you want to buy one - put in your phone number - DHL might need to call. I live in London and got mine in just over 34 hours - talk of a speedy delivery. The LCDVF is brilliant.

Well, after I've sent an email to info@LCDVF.com....I've got a reply! The main problem or challenge, so it seems to me, is that Toni's business is in a bit of a flux and the website isn't exactly up to date. There seems to be a problem with PayPal in Estonia, so there's a new distribution plan in the works.
Anyway, I've got a pro-forma invoice via email, paid via bank transfer, and wait for the package to arrive. Which might take a bit considering the season ;-)
Thanks for your support guys! I'll report back when it's arrived.

Im trying to buy too! filled out the form, and nada. Emailed the US distributor (who doesn't have it on their website) 2 days ago, nothing yet. Just emailed info@lcdvf.com Hopefully they can ship it by the 23rd!

Kudos to Tonis! A wee bit difficult at the beginning but a great finish. After we started our friendly email communication it took actually less than 2 days for the LCDVF to arrive! This is really fast and I also appreciate that Tonis sent the thing off immediately after I told him that I've ordered my bank to do the money transfer. In other words, he sent the package off before he actually got my money. Really nice!
