Alternative to Canon Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3

I am looking to buy a remote for Time Lapse on my 7D but would rather not spend 144 for the canon trigger. Are there any good alternatives that can do basically the same thing?

There's $14 ones all over Amazon, the main and only problem being that some people report the button lock not working, which a simple return may get you one that works. I'm ordering one tonight! The next best is some on Amazon that are around $45, they seem to be better reviewed with the button problem.

If anyone doesn't mind me hijacking this thread to ask too; are there any alternative brands for memory cards that work just as well as the Sandisks? I'm looking for possibly a 16GB, or even a 32GB, but with Sandisk, they are pretty expensive even on Amazon (though certainly not as much as the fraudulent $50 a store recently charged me for a 4GB). Plus, the Sandisk cards have trouble fitting into my computer with others don't. The other brands seem extremely cheaper, to boot. Are there any specific brands that perform just as well as the Sandisk Class 6-10's, and any I should definatly not get?

This looks interesting, professional color too. Seems to be an offbrand 8Gb Class 10, 30mbs, waterproof.
