GH4 Alternative to a MOVI rig?

Hi Michael,

My experience with the Movi is just the opposite from what you described in several of your recent post. I have a M5 and it takes me less than a couple of minutes to get it balanced using any lens. You should test one out to see how easy it really is to balance.

For most of us who can't justify buying the movi 5 or 10 what would be the next best options ? In a kind of one man show configuration...
It's not the same but what about a Glidecam 4000

How often are you shooting on a stabilizer, can you justify the cost? Glidecams can be had for a few hundred dollars, used Merlin's too. I have a steadicam smoothie with the cheesycam "baby Merlin" mod and it works great, total cost $140.

or under 1000 us $, what is the best and more userfriendly Steadicam for a single man?

Im thinking for now of getting a Glidecam XR-4000 or a Merlin 2 but im pretty new to this... I would like to buy one in a long run investissement..
Any recommendation?

I too really enjoy the quality and thought behind Letus products, however I'm not always a fan of their business practices. I remember when I first got into the DSLR game several years ago purchasing a Talon shoulder rig from them for $1300. I went on a trip over seas for a week, came home, and they had reduced the price to $499 or less. On top of that, they had put out a video hyping their MCS rig and dogging their own talon system.

When your making a substantial purchase, you expect your equipment to at least have SOME residual value. After some kicking and screaming they did eventually let me trade my talon rig back in for $500, (as a result of the price drop they sold for $300 on the used market) That's something I feel like most of the other guys get right by comparison. Just another element to keep in mind when your dropping $4000 on a stabilizer...

Back to my question... for under 1000 us $, what is the best and more userfriendly Steadicam for a single man? (something light and discrete as well)

A Glidecam XR-4000 , a Merlin 2 , something else?
Cheers guys

If you've "never used it" then why are you selling one in your signature?

If you actually click on the thread, you could read and find out. Or maybe you're right and I've been on this site for 8 years for the long term scam...

What is your budget? There are several options. Check out dys, came-tv, besteady, Dyfy, etc. Tejeré is a huge Community of dyi gimbal and forums and Facebook groups.

Look like there are some decent working option under 1000 or eventually 2k$ which works great.. Im friendly for a friendly option, efficient and light to transport..

Glidecam XR-4000 seems to be a popular option, merlin too, what will you suggest?

Whoa, they're very different things, a manual gimbal stabiliser vs motorised gimbal stabiliser.

Plus I think the Glidecam 4000s are a bit overkill for the GH cameras, unless you plan on mounting DSLR glass. I think the HD has more features to make it easier to balance, so I'd spring for that instead of the XR.
