Alright, get in shape ......

Man, I hope I can draw some inspiration from this thread. My wife and I spent an HVX-sized amount of money on an in-home trainer. I did good for about 4 weeks and then started to get back to my old self. Our sessions are half over and I'm no better off. I can handle my 30lb 14 month old son a bit better, but not THAT much better.

I have a pool, two bikes, a decent home gym, live in a sunny state and I still can't get it done. Pitiful. How hard is it to hit the elipitcal or treadmill for 45 mins? Apparently, very hard.

I also can't stay away from the food. I'm a food fiend.

If only I could find this picture of me that my wife's cute co-worker took of me laying on the front of the boat on vacation looking like a whale. She actually sent me the picture and it was depressing, but now I can't find it. She's never mentioned it, but I'm embarassed every time I see her.

I'll be jogging tomorrow even if it is 105 outside. :)

It's kind of nice being in highschool and playing basketball because you are forced to be in shape. The basketball team must also be on the cross-country team. We also have to come in early to lift weights 4 times a week, and of course we play basketball for 1.5 hours at the beginning of each school day.

Except what isn't nice about highschool is the boatload of homework I get every day which has caused my 1-2 posts per day for the last week.

its always hard and i find myself fighting to get the energy to get away from work and the wife and the computer and the bars with friends just to work out or play ball consistently-
:badputer:

the only way i can stick to it is if i write out a contract for myself w/PENALTYS. if i mess up or dont do what i need to do then i am fined $$$$ (like $50 first mess up, $100 there after which adds up quick if you mess up). i try to always contract w/good friend or my wife and the money goes either directly to them or in a pot for something we both wanna do when the contract finishes. doing it together is easier and more fun.

i always figured if i sign my name to it i have to stick to it. and you can make the contract focus on exactly what you want to focus on. once you put your name to it you are "legally" bound.

but like hudson said - you gotta just do it.

Totally

I was playing basketball at 36 with the young dogs just 60 days ago and knocking down 3 after 3 after 3 .....

It gets harder to maintain so you cant give up

Yeah i miss those days. I used to play for high school and then college and we had to hit the wieghts and run everyday and at that time I had energy for days. I hope after I recover it will come back. Even if half of it came back I would be happy.

I'm pretty good about working out regularly, because I just feel like shi* when I don't.

But this whole time everyone was talking about Jessica Biel, I thought you were talking about JENNIFER BEALS from the 80s, and I was thinking, man, is she having some massive come-back or something? :)

She is gold as well. I 'll take her now or then. Preferably both......

On a health note, after shooting hand held wit hmy 35 adpter for weeks, my back and shoulders are right on...... buti cant touch my toes... i need to stretch.

But once you get rails to support it ti will be just as heavy.

WE should make a "DVX" work out video.

I actually just picked up a Bowflex Xtreme... bought it used of Craigslist. I just called Bowflex and ordered the 410 # upgrade for it. I have a good feeling about this...

By the way, it looks like Jessica's been doing her lunges... :)
