It's not yet on a US or Europe site do if you prefer to wait then wait. If not go straight to the Japan page and download it. (I don't think US/EU will be any different from JP version)

DO NOT USE ALL FILES FROM FIRMWARE 2.1 AND BELOW ON 3.0!!!!
You have to recreate new ones!!!!

I have the feeling that is one of those pages that went live before it was supposed to ;)

Guess the cat is out of the bag. Easy to surmise I had it already.

The "Video Signal Monitor improvements" means you can use WFM with LUT. There are some caveats which I will post later.

And the shutter-reset feature (It's not a bug; it's a feature) is fixed. I tested both in NTSC and PAL universes and it never jumped to 300 degrees or 216 degrees. I set 180 degrees and it stayed there.

Not sure I should be talking since today wasn't supposed to be release day. But if something is on the web, somebody in the world is bound to find it. Alohype wins the prize for best amateur detective and gets his own personal decoder ring (some of us remember very early US television children's shows).

Haha, gratz Alohype!

Thanks for the clarifications, Ned. Appreciate it! FS7 just became a much more streamlined camera to work with, allowing me to focus on my art rather than checking and double checking my shutter speed.

I'm all ears...

If I were a betting man I reckon they've managed up to UHD not 4K and no S&Q.

This from Sony on WFM and LUT's. Their exact words, not mine.

--------------

States When Monitor LUT Cannot be Configured Independently
In the following cases, Monitor LUT >SDI2, HDMI, and Viewfinder in the Video menu cannot be set individually. They are synced with the SDI1 & Internal Rec setting.
– When Output Format >HDMI in the Video menu is set to 4096Å~2160 or 3840Å~2160
– When S&Q Motion >Setting in the Recording menu is set to On
– When Lens >Distortion Comp. in the System menu is set to Auto

States When Video Signal Monitor Cannot be Displayed
• To use Video Signal Monitor, SDI output must be enabled. Also, the output resolution must be 2K or lower. Check the following settings.
– Output On/Off >SDI in the Video menu
– Output Format >SDI in the Video menu
• In the following cases, Video Signal Monitor cannot be displayed in the viewfinder.
– When the SDI output is edge cropped using Output Setting >4K/2K to HD Conv. in the Video menu
– When Monitor LUT >SDI2 and Viewfinder settings in the Video menu are different

The description seems like they have fixed a good chunk of the original issues and added some great features here.

One FW question. I didn't update the last FW as it didn't fix anything I had issue with and my camera was already stable heading into a larger project. Do I need to update to previous vrs then to FW3.0 or can I just go to FW3.0?

I don't know the answer to that. To be safe, I would update to 2.10 and then to 3.0

But it may not be necessary.

Pretty sure you'll be fine, it's a complete firmware installation, not a patch. Certainly, it's a similar data size to the last update.

I'm most interested to see if they've fixed the RAW.

"Two months ago we found several issues affecting the output of the Sony FS7 RAW signal when used with Sony’s XDCA extension unit. The engineers at Sony acknowledged the two issues we had found and it’s a good sign to see that Sony takes such issues seriously, as they implemented a fix in the FS7 firmware update 3.0 released today.

The issues we saw prior to today’s firmware update were: Frame drops when shooting at 200fps (PAL). And lower than expected bit depth, affecting dynamic range of external recordings...

...We had a chance to test a version of the firmware in early January and we can confirm that the issues are no longer present. The frame drops are fixed and processing has been improved so the RAW images look more natural and we could see a higher bit depth.

However, we also found that the bit depth is still lower at high frame rates (e.g.: 240fps RAW). This is due to the limited data rate that can be put through a single 3G-SDI cable. Thus dynamic range on internal recordings (XAVC) remains slightly higher. There are a few more small inconsistencies affecting the RAW output that Sony have acknowledged and are working on to address in future firmware updates of the Sony FS7."

up to now I heard the fan of my FS7 two times: on FW upgrade from 2.0 to 2.1 and from 2.1 to 3.0 - what a noise!

I still will not use in camera NR. I would rather strive for proper exposure and a LUT in post. Ill then use Resolve's or Redgiant's NR if needed.
