allow us to SHORTEN scene files in-camera!

To save storage space please make it possible to SHORTEN recorded scene files already within the RED. This simple feature would be especially useful when recording to flash cards and - how come? - is missing in the HVX200.
 
It wouldn't give you as much versatility in post; you don't get a very good idea of the scene on a such a small screen either, and you might cut something very good out.

Well, that's my risk. But I simply prefer to have the choice taking that risk ... and to save storage space in exchange.
